The term has two meanings applicable here: describing an idea, feeling or opinion about someone (“I have a good impression of that young man.”) and an effect produced on someone (“She made a profound impression on my life”). What is your impression of God? Before answering, consider the following questions and score each on a scale with 1 being completely insufficient knowledge or engagement and 10 being sufficient knowledge or engagement. By providing an honest assessment you’ll gain a valuable measure of your spiritual formation. Each of these questions is related to a spiritual habit: ▶ Seeing Jesus in Scripture How easily can you “see Jesus” in the Old Testament? ▶ Seeing Jesus in Scripture How would you rate your understanding of typology as it relates to Jesus? ▶ Story and Patterns Are you able to identify and understand the various literary forms of the Bible? ▶ Story and Patterns How well do you know the storyline of God’s Word? ▶ Engaging Scripture How deeply have you engaged with Scripture? ▶ Engaging Scripture How much of the Bible have you actually read? ▶ Meditation How well do you understand the practice of meditating on God’s Word? ▶ Meditation How often in the past have you meditated on God’s Word? ▶ Memorization How much of the Bible have you memorized? ▶ Memorization How much of the Bible’s storyline and chronology have you memorized?
