What is it that I can I tell you, young boy? I need to know...
What can I tell you right now, before your feet have grown?
With legs strong as support beams to brace you for the storm things that’ll collide with your spirit’s home, before your dome has allowed you to take in any of the world’s deepest wrongs,
What can I tell you that will defend you, from the struggles that will come with just being you?
What can I tell you when you first go to school, and the teacher says you’re destined to rest in a casket or end up a failure because of the shade of your skin and the connotation attached to it?
And what can I tell you when this whole system makes you think it’s true?
Baby the shade of Saharan midnights,
What can I tell you to prevent you from becoming another statistic,
another Black rose in the concrete raised distant from the one who was supposed to cultivate it, expected to spit, play sports or come up short like midgets, in this, Wilderness called “America”
I hope you are aware of its twistedness, in its, most frigid areas, I hope you survive it’s blizzards,
Where a, young God as sweet as you must grow up without an older God to present a shining example that would make him worthy of his title, “the Sun”, the one who educates and tells you to shine brighter than he ever did, the Son, the one who emulates and shines brighter than he ever did, because, only through you can he and a long line of Kings forever live,
I wish, I could tell you how to be a Man... But I’m still learning myself,
So all I can tell you is what the male figures in my life have told me and what I’ve come to know,
So, be yourself, an individual
be a stand up guy with stand up plans,
thinking in long term, but living for the moment, knowing it won’t occur again,
as you get older, know that exploiting girls does not make you a Man,
be an open mind with open hands, ready for someone else to hold,
whether it be your Queen who you will love, your seed who you will guide,
a friend in need, or a stranger who is none of the above, but needs a light in their life,
be that Light, and let your hand be a hand that only balls up in order to raise a fist in power,
doing all it can to fight injustice across all lands until the Final Hour,
Remember to never forget where you came from, but never lose the vision of where you’re going
Learn from your mistakes, and when you fail, do not make excuses,
just do it, no Nike swooshes, just reach for victory,
like reaching for the Greek goddess Nike, who is
not a real being, but the concept she represents shall be the one you come to symbolize, as “always room for improvement”,
Let your word be your bond, your life be your prayer, and when it seems your light gets dim,
Keep the fire of Allah burning deep within,
know that your Lord does not rest on a cloud floating against the aether
but that He exists in the nation building words you let slip from your lips,
His glory, reflected in the righteous kingdoms you will build with your open hands & fists,
this, simply means, that I hope you see God when you look in the mirror,
and I hope you see Him in others as well,
Find happiness, love, paradise, and eternity internally...
Because searching for those things externally is how you can end up in Hell...
