nah but hold on. i get that the colours used in perfect harmony are probably just because they’re the classic colours used in more serious scenes or whatever but hear me out:
julie has this daydream about a guy she knows is dead. and everything in the room is black & white: two colours known to symbolise life & death. but in this moment she’s in black and he’s in white — furthering the idea that even though she knows he’s a ghost, she doesn’t see him as one; not really.
he’s brimming with life— the way he contrasts with the black background, his white shirt a pop of colour
and let’s not forget about the colourful socks she throws in (with hearts mind you). it’s interesting to see her being the one in black, while he’s in white. maybe they’re opposites and opposites attract. maybe she sees him so clearly in white, while she’s still mourning her mom- in black. mourning him- in black.
either way, it’s just super interesting to see the colour choices. and then you have the space they’re in -/ black and white. as if telling us that julie sees the entire situation clearly — in black and white. she knows he’s dead. she knows she’s alive. but she still very much with a clear mind knows what she wants. knows that she’s falling for him and still wants to reach out to him; to live this love that she feels in her heart
she’s aware of their situation and yet still willing to pursue it. cause it’s that simple; that black and white: she loves him, he loves her. what’s death gonna do about it? absolutely nothing: it sure as hell won’t stop her.
and it sure as hell won’t stop him.

I want to make sure that I'm not disrespecting or misrepresenting your culture, because I know as a Black woman how hurtful that can be (also because I have this crazy new thing called empathy), so I was wondering if I've ever unintentionally written anything that you've found offensive or in poor taste or just rubbed you the wrong way, so that I can edit it or delete it. I am NOT AT ALL demanding for you to do anything, if you're a Latinx reader and you want to give me feedback, I'd greatly appreciate it, but I know that it's not your job to check me or anyone else, that should be a personal mission. But if you've noticed anything offensive in the way I write these Latin men, please let me know and I will do my best to correct it. I don't ever want to make you feel uncomfortable or unheard.
Correcting any of my mistakes may take me some time, but please know that I am ready and willing to do the work. And that I wholeheartedly and genuinely apologize for any harm I've done, and I will try to be more mindful as I continue on.
