I got reminded of two komahina and komaegi fics inspired by traditional Japanese mythology that i wanted to write. The komaegi one i might still do at some point, but as much as I love the concept for the komahina one, i just dont really like the ship anymore.
The Komahina one i couldnt really decide if i wanted set before or after the 19th century, but the basic premise was that komaeda is a kitsune whose got some major onesided beef with hajime because he keeps hanging out with the 77 class( who still have like the same basic shsl status) and nagito doesnt think hajime’s worthy enough to be associated with them.
So he kinda just goes around shapeshifting into pretty girls and old men, trying to embarrass hajime in front of his friends. eventually even trying to posses him and force him to go streaking in the center of town or whatever. he sucks at it though cuz hajime’s a chad.
I never really came up with an ending for this fic, but one idea was that hajime runs into nagito at a bar where he’s like, hella drunk and kinda spills the beans on why he hates hajime so much and how ultimates should only be in the presence of other ultimates. To which hajime is all like, “ dude, who even are you? I havent seen you hang out with my friends once, so what gives you the authority to say who they can and cant be friends with.” Only for Komaeda to really take that to heart, and sure enough like the very next day Ibuki, or whoever really, introduces the group to their new friend nagito ( who takes a form like his usual appearance for like the first time in the the whole fic ) who they met the other day. And they all hang out. With komaeda still being kind of dick to hajime, but less so because thats progress i guess.
I kinda just came up with this cuz i was really into kitsune lore for a while, and im sorry but the majority of fics on ao3 dont really know how to write kitsune and just seem to focus on the “oh hes got fox ears and a tail” and dont really go much farther then that.
The komaegi fic, like i said, I still kinda want to write, so im not going to really talk about it too much. But that one is more inspired by the idea of shinto. Where the world is littered with gods for just about everything, even if its just a random river or a really big rock. And kinda just revolves around Nagito getting all philosophical with makoto about luck and the idea of being unique while also berating him for being a loser nobody.
