Monet and I have been circling each other for as long as I can remember. I first learned of him in the third grade when I was shown a piece from his series depicting La Catédral de Rouen. There was something indescribable that I was drawn to and perhaps and probably it's also what he was drawn to. The current exhibition at the @agotoronto "Mystical Landscapes" describes Claude Monet, Emily Carr, Van Gogh, Georgia O'Keefe and others as connecting with the divine. They saw something in nature that was connecting us with the stars, the moon and each other, and frequently sought to show it in their work. It was profoundly fulfilling to realize that what I seek to do in my work is what one of my idols had been doing this whole time. It further reminds me that I'm on my right path. Every time I see lily pads I'm dazzled and my heart gets the same feeling it did when I first looked at the light Monet painted in La Catédral. I circled Monet again this past Friday and was closer than I've ever felt before - seeing paintbrush bristles smeared in with the oil paint left by a man who seems solely a character in art history, brings him and his creations and ideas immediately to life ✨🌸🙌🏼. . . . #mysticallandscapes #Waterlilies #claudemonet #impressionistic #divineconnections #divinefeminine #god #whatevergodis #spiritual #youareconnectedtothis #artgalleryofontario #inspo #femaleartist #toronto
