Runescape Diaries Day 5
Geeze, what kind of jackass plays five days of Runescape ironically? Does it still count as irony now that I’ve gotten really invested in my mining skill? It’s up to 40 now.
Yesterday after I posted, I went down into a mine where I was quickly devoured by scorpions. As I was dying horribly a woman came up to me and offered to help me level up my character. I turned to her as blood poured out of my newly-created orifices and said "EXCUSE ME! I have been playing this game for a whole FOUR DAYS. So I THINK I know what I'm doing." And then I ran away screaming.
... I may be exaggerating a bit.
Actually, that is one of the things that's really mesmerized me: the conversations that appear in chat. While I have started talking to people briefly, I have been reading a lot of the conversations that take place near me and they are fascinating. I will completely stop playing the game just to see what people are talking about, and the conversations can get weird!
I found these two people at a bank that spoke like they were one of those robot chat programs. Their entire conversation was made up of seemingly random and unconnected phrases to the point that some of their sentences didn't even make sense in the context of themselves. WHAT DOES THIS GAME DO TO PEOPLE?!
So I decided experiment with the game’s players by running up to a man slaughtering cows. I asked him what sort of horrid atrocities the animals had inflicted upon him. He responded, but did not seem amused. Apparently, the livestock-killers of the world are not as botty as I had presumed. More experiments are needed...
