What my Final Design has to Offer
The label itself is 100% detachable from the Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce bottle which makes it a lot easier for consumers to separate the two materials for recycling - as apposed to the current design where the label is affixed onto the bottle itself via the means of glue.
The PET plastic which the bottle is made out of is recycled material and can be recycled numerous times.
When the plastic bottle is re-recycled there is much less energy used than what there is when producing a virgin bottle.
There is hardly any glue at all utilised on the bottle label - only two small sections. The glue itself is biodegradable making it very eco-friendly and sustainable as an adhesive.
The multi-use function of the label is its spaghetti measurer which is a section big enough for one serving of pasta - this can be used as many times as needed for however many people there are. As the label is detachable, the spaghetti measure can be stored by the customer and every time they use it, they can be reminded to use Lea & Perrins thanks to the branding on the label itself.
To run alongside the spaghetti measure, there is the inclusion of a recipe - for spaghetti bolognese. This creates a synergy through the product as the recipe and gauge relate to one another.
The orange and black colour scheme is in-keeping with the brief and the overall feel of the Lea & Perrins brand. The orange is striking and the use of black for text etc. supports the brand identity.
Overall, the look of the label has been modernised to appeal to the younger audience as stated in the brief - it has taken upon a very fashionable, typography based look that is attractive and interesting to the eye - helping it stand out on the shelf, especially against more of the traditional brands which Lea & Perrins compete with.
The QR scanner on the back of the label is another relatable feature for the younger target market - as well as some of those techno-friendly older consumers. The QR scanner will link a customer directly to the L&P website, onto a page that promotes how L&P themselves are going green and how the buyer of the product can also be more eco-friendly. Recipes and L&P inspirations will also be accessible from this scanner.
As the label is double sided and printed twice - one for the top and one for the bottom side, there is a lot less paper being used for the product - another simple, sustainable element.
The paper itself is also fully recycled and recyclable.
