“So what are you going to be for halloween? I was thinking about a couple’s costume but I need a back up plan just in case you aren’t interested.” She asked around a pumpkin spice flavored lollipop.
Her best friend gave her a concerned side eye, “But it’s only september? You still have another month.” He sipped his apple cider in thought. “But no I don’t have anything planned, what did you have in mind?”
She squeaked, jumping at the opportunity and quickly pulling up several pictures to show him. “Personally, I want to do something fantastical this year - like prince and princess or knight and dragon. But as long as you agree to it, I don’t really mind. I’ll figure out how to make it fit my image.” She showed him a couple of dresses and costumes she had bookmarked in anticipation for her pitch.
“Why not something vague like aliens or sci-fi movies?” He inquired as he scrolled through the images. “I think princes and princesses are a little over done, you know?”
She nodded along, “Yeah, I guess. Is there anything you want to do then?” She peeked at her friend curiously.
He scrolled some more before showing her a new costume set. “What about cyberpunk? I want to do a different style like this one,” He showed her the Victorian era look, “And you can add whatever you want to it. Are we going to a party or something?”
When she got her phone back, she started to sketch out the new designs in her sketchpad. “Hm?” She continued to sketch as she answered him, “My parents are planning on throwing something for the little ones. There might be a party at Austin’s or Becca’s but I haven’t heard anything.”
He finished his last bit of hot apple cider. “Yeah, okay.” He glanced at his watch, “I gotta get to class, I’ll see you after school, yeah?” He quickly ran off with his school bag.
She gave him a short wave before focussing back onto the sketch, making sure it was the best costume this year.
