Conversations with Laila
My daughter woke up with swollen eyes. A symptom of her seasonal allergies. Of course I ran out to get her some Benadryl. While she was relaxing with an ice pack waiting for the meds to kick in we had the following conversation. Laila: Mom, what's a fishmonger? Me: Its like a butcher. Only for fish. Laila: Like at Whole Foods. They have the fish guy and the cheese guy... Me: Exactly. The word "monger" just indicates they specialize in that product. Laila: So..... (Thoughtful look). Never mind. Me: What? What were you going to say? Laila: Nothing. Me: You were gonna say something. Spit it. Laila: You're gonna get weird. Me: No I'm not. Laila: I was gonna ask what a "Whoremonger" was but I think I got it figured out. Me: Go to sleep. Laila: I knew you were gonna make it weird. Me: Yeah, well look who's talking...
