“Merlin, Reg, not now, you don’t need to—”
“No, I do—” Regulus hissed, and with an immense effort, reached up to grab hold of Sirius’s shoulder, digging in his fingers. “I’ll do better, next time, I swear—”
Hold on. He squinted. What the hell was Sirius doing here? He thought Sirius had gotten out? He thought Sirius had escaped this house, had escaped everything that it meant? He thought Sirius had abandoned him for good? Why was Sirius here? Had he come back?
...
“Regulus,” Sirius said... “What happened to you?”
.
This fic is incredibly entertaining and intriguing. It is a canon-divergent fic centred around Regulus Black, and has a beautifully constructed non-linear structure and writing style. I also enjoy the exploration of Regulus and Sirius’ relationship incorporated throughout the fic.
