The moment the news are publishing that none other than Yn Leclerc will walk on the Victoria's Secret runway, the show gets sold out in a matter of minutes.
The drivers, along with the WAGs, quickly brought every available ticket. Fernando even went as far as buying three seats for himself, not wanting to have anyone sit next to him.
The only one who didn't have to buy any tickets was the Leclerc family, who git their tickets from Yn themselves. She was very proud of her achievement and wanted all of her family there with her.
What her brothers weren't expecting was, to see the grid at the fashion show.
Carlos and Rebecca were sitting in the front row, cameras already ready. George and Carmen had the biggest bouquet ready for Yn. Oscar and Lando were already chatting with Lewis about what Yn would possibly wear.
Her brothers certainly weren't happy to see all of them there, but sadly couldn't convince the security to escort these idiots out.
The show started and it truly was magnificent. However, when Yn stepped out, the applause went crazy. Every audience member, no matter if family, driver, WAG or someone else, went crazy when they saw Yn.
She looked like a dream. A perfectly fitted lilac lingerie outfit along with some stunning white angel wings were adoring the beautiful body of Yn Evangeline Leclerc.
What Charles certainly didn't appreciate was Landos reaction. He didn't hesitate to hit the Brit over the head before going back to applauding his baby sister.
The second the show stopped, it was like a race started. The drivers tried to be the first one by Yn side backstage, feeling no remorse when they shoved and tripped each other.
However, all of their effort was for nothing, seeing as Kelly and Max were already with Yn backstage, feeding her tiny muffins and praising her to the moon and back.

Summary — It’s baby Leclerc’s first time in the paddock since moving in with her big brother, and everyone wants to say hello.
Notes — I’m using these requests as little writing exercises between longer chapters of my wips and it’s so much fun. Hope you love it anon.
The paddock was much louder than she’d expected.
Louder, and bigger, and filled with so many unfamiliar faces that it made her stomach twist and her fingers twitch at the hem of her sleeve nervously.
But Charles had promised. “Stay with me, ma chérie. I won’t let you out of my sight.” And so far, he’d kept his word. His hand was still wrapped around hers, warm, steady, safe, as he guided her through the crowded areas.
“Okay, that’s the Ferrari garage just there,” he said, slowing to a stop in front of the bright red blur of it all. “Looks very cool, no?”
She nodded, wide-eyed. She was wearing one of her brother’s vintage Ferrari jackets. It hung off of her, but it was so cosy. “It’s huge.”
“You’re tiny, so everything feels huge.”
She elbowed him in the ribs—lightly, but enough to make him laugh.
Then a voice called out from behind them.
“No way. Is this the famous baby Leclerc?”
She turned just as a grinning man in a blinding McLaren kit jogged over.
Oh. Lando.
She knew him from the races, obviously. But also from the YouTube videos Charles let her watch—usually late at night with popcorn when they were supposed to be asleep.
“Hi,” she said shyly.
Lando crouched slightly to meet her height, even though he was only an inch or two taller than she was. “Hi! I thought Charles had made you up to win sympathy points.”
She blinked at him.
“I do not need sympathy points,” Charles deadpanned.
“You do when you qualify P19.”
“Lando.” He cursed.
She giggled.
And the nerves began to fade.

By the time Max had given her a familiar fist bump and George offered her a sip of his iced coffee (“you’re a child, you don’t need caffeine,” Charles had immediately protested), she was smiling for real.
She sat in the Ferrari hospitality with Carlos, who insisted she try every flavour of Italian cookie, and played Mario Kart with Mick on her switch that Charles had remembered to stuff into her backpack.
Every time Charles glanced her way, she was either laughing or quietly watching everything, soaking it all in with a curiosity that reminded him so painfully of when she first moved in with him—wide-eyed, unsure, but eager to belong.
“You okay?” He asked as they walked back to the motorhome after lunch.
She looked up at him, cheeks flushed from the sun. Sunblock, he thought with a self-deprecating frown. That’s what he’d forgotten. “I really love it here.” She whispered.
He smiled so wide it hurt.
“Good,” he said, tugging her hood up over her head. Sun protection. “Because you’re stuck with me now. Forever. So you’ll probably spend more time at tracks like this than at school — but we won’t tell anyone that.”
She rolled her eyes but leaned into his side anyway.
And when the race ended hours later—when she waited at the back of the garage, clutching a team radio and bouncing on her toes as he stepped out of the car, sweaty and grinning and exhausted—he didn’t hesitate.
Helmet off. Arms open.
She ran straight into them.
“P2,” he said breathlessly into her hair. “For you.”
She beamed up at him. “I want to see you win, though!”
Charles blinked. Laughed. Shook his head. “Ah. Okay. You are definitely my sister.”
Yn Pascale Antoinette Leclerc is, without question, the definition of a sweetheart. As the youngest Leclerc sibling, she grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and three impossibly overprotective older brothers who would do absolutely anything for her.
While Charles, Arthur, and Lorenzo spent their childhood racing around karting tracks, Yn often stayed with her grandmother in Monaco. It was there, at only three years old, that her love for fashion quietly began to bloom. What started as tiny sketches on scraps of paper and clumsy little stitches on old fabric soon turned into something far bigger. Before anyone truly realized it, Yn had already decided that one day she would become one of Monaco’s greatest fashion designers.
And naturally, her brothers supported her every step of the way.
Whether it meant modeling her newest designs without complaint or funding yet another creative idea, the Leclerc brothers never hesitated when it came to their little sister. In their eyes, Yn deserved the world and maybe even more than that.
Of course, their protectiveness came with endless reminders.
“All boys have cooties, don’t forget that, chérie.” - Charles
“Please, boys are stupid anyway.” - Arthur
“There’s nothing wrong with being independent and single. You’ll always have us, after all.” - Lorenzo
If Yn ever casually mentioned wanting something, chances were her brothers had already bought it before she even finished speaking.
“Oh, you need a new sewing machine? Let’s rent you a studio with everything you could possibly need.”
“You’re hungry after school? Fine. Let’s fly to Italy for proper pasta, chérie.”
Their mother constantly reminded them not to spoil her too much, though none of them ever listened. How could they? Yn was the sweetest person any of them had ever known.
What nobody expected, however, was the chaos that began the moment eighteen-year-old Yn attended her very first Grand Prix.
That was when Ollie and Kimi completely fell for her.
The crushes started innocently enough, carrying her bags, following her around the paddock like devoted puppies, constantly trying to make her laugh. Compliments seemed to fall from their mouths every few seconds whenever she was near. And Yn, sweet and oblivious as ever, remained entirely unaware of the obvious feelings the Mercedes and Haas drivers had for her.
To her, they were simply friends.
Pierre had always treated Yn like a younger sister as well, thanks to his close friendship with Charles. He proudly spoiled her whenever he had the chance, even gifting her first Chanel bag for her fifteenth birthday.
The rest of the paddock practically watched Yn grow up alongside them.
Lando behaved like the irritating older cousin who never stopped teasing her. George and Alex were endlessly supportive, always encouraging her dreams. Carlos loved annoying her simply for entertainment, though he cared for her deeply all the same. Oscar, calm and patient as always, quietly went along with almost anything Yn wanted.
Truthfully, Yn Leclerc was adored by nearly everyone who met her.
But if anyone believed they loved Yn the most, they should remember one thing: No one could ever love her more than her brothers.
…Except perhaps Ollie and Kimi, who were certainly trying.

and somehow at the same time it was the first race weekend of the season… which ended with charles on the podium. so yes, this weekend included dancing in the paddock, listening to the album on repeat, and screaming during the last laps.

[First name] may be the light of the Leclercs’ lives, but she is also very particular on who she welcomes into her exclusive circle. Not even her own godfather Pierre—who has been in her life since she was born—has won an invitation.
Her father, Charles, never forces her to broaden her circle. Instead, he subtly creates opportunities for her to do so, like her occasionally bringing her to grand prix events. Her attendance today is one of those days.
Charles watches her with a fond smile, one hand wrapped around her small one. Her other hand is clutched to her beloved black dragon plush. She says nothing as they walk down the paddock, but her unvoiced fascination is obvious in the way her head swivels, eyes wide and taking in everything around her.
"There’s my favorite Leclerc!" Pierre appears seemingly out of nowhere, brighter and peppier than usual.
On cue, [First name]’s grip tightens, and she shrinks behind Charles’s leg, hiding as much of herself as she can while peaking just enough to keep the newcomer in sight. He gives her hand a gentle squeeze, a wordless gesture of comfort.
He matches Pierre’s playful energy, "I knew you love me!"
His best friend pays him no mind and squats in front of [First name] with a wide grin. "Bonjour, [First name]!"
In lieu of a verbal "hello," she simply moves one of her dragon’s front paws in a silent wave.
Charles doesn’t dwell on [First name]’s bashfulness. A big part of him finds it incredibly endearing that his daughter trusts him to be her safe harbor and shield. Another part finds it equally amusing to watch her pseudo-uncles—the other drivers—try and fail to win her over.
"Still not talking to me, huh, chérie?" Pierre notes, poking her cheek gently. "That’s okay. Tonton loves you still."
He then opens his arms for a hug, hopeful. There have been rare, miraculous times she has accepted that request, and he has been taking his chances for another miracle ever since. Alas, he isn’t destined to find out if today’s one of those days.
"[First name]!" A new voice chimes in. "You’re here today!" It’s Lando, laughing as he practically jogs towards them.
Behind him, Alex follows at a more relaxed pace. "Baby Leclerc!"
Pierre sighs, recognizing his chance to earn her attention for the day officially gone.
"What am I, chopped liver?" Charles asks, feigning a huff. His heart, however, melts at all the attention his daughter is getting.
"Don’t take it to heart," George says, joining their rapidly growing crowd. "We just saw your ugly mug yesterday."
His gasp of offense is audibly, comically real. No one bothers to comment, as their undivided attention is rightly directed at the three-and-a-half behind him.
In contrast to everyone else who has greeted her thus far, Oscar makes no grand commotion. He simply squats quietly near [First name]. "Heya, kiddo," he greets softly, holding up an open palm for a high five.
Wordlessly, [First name] obliges, moving her plush’s paw to touch his hand. A tiny, almost imperceptible smile plays on her lips before she shrinks further behind her father’s leg. She lets go of his hand in favor of holding onto his leg.
It’s a small victory, but it doesn't go unnoticed. The crowd, starving for any ounce of her attention, collectively perks up.
"I want a high-five, too!" Yuki exclaims.
"Can I get a ‘hello,’ cariño?" Fernando asks.
"How about a fist bump?" Gabriel wonders.
"I just want to hear her say anything," Esteban voices everyone’s thoughts. "A ‘tonton’ would be nice, though."
Charles feels her small hand tighten into a death grip on his leg, and makes the call. "Alright, everyone. Don't overwhelm my baby." He lifts [First name] into his arms, and she immediately latches onto his neck, burying her face in his shoulder. "I'll catch you guys later."
He hears a quick, collective sound of disappointment behind him, which is ultimately replaced by a lively farewell. "Bye-bye, [First name]!"
Once they’re far enough away, [First name] finally finds her voice. "Tonton loud," she whispers into his neck.
"They are, aren’t they?" He chuckles softly. He soothes her back with gentle strokes. "Did they scare you?"
"Non," she admits, shaking her head against his shoulder. "Papa here. No scared."
Charles holds her tighter with a kiss, and [First name] sighs in contentment as the world outside their bubble fades away.
Charles knows better than to think the earlier ambush for her attention would be the last for today. After all, it isn’t his first time bringing his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter to the paddock.
As such, he also has no doubt that while everyone from earlier carried their chaos into the group chat—

—the rest are quietly strategizing to maximize their chances to win [First name] over.
To dissuade anyone from immediately setting their plans in motion, Charles takes his daughter with him to the team meeting. She’s a quiet additional presence, content on his lap with her dragon plush and her own headset. No one on the team minds her being there.
His race engineer Bryan even joins the others in saying "hi" and patting her head.
(They have done it frequently enough for [First name] to eventually mimic it with her plush—patting its head before nodding sagely to herself.)
However, his teammate Lewis seems to have taken the lead. He has taught [First name] how to fist bump with a slight flair, and she has laughed in amusement. Not only that, but she has promptly initiated for a second one as well.
For a group deeply interested in winning her over and one-upping each other, this is truly a monumental feat; something that needs to be bragged about.
"Wait ‘til they hear about this!" Lewis celebrates, heading to his seat with his phone in hand.
Unfortunately, braggable as it may be, it’s also a seemingly impossible accomplishment to believe. The others’ egos and jealousy strongly prevent them from accepting the new feat they’ll need to beat without any proof.
Fortunately, Ferrari’s social media admin has apparently caught the moment on camera. Yet, still, he and Lewis unanimously vote to keep the evidence within the team for the time being: Charles wants to delay the inevitably more intense efforts, Lewis wants to relish his triumph and their denial.
Truthfully, Charles is the least surprised to hear [First name] laugh while in the paddock. He has faith that his efforts to help her expand her exclusive circle is effective; it’s just a matter of when [First name] feels ready. And, apparently, today is the start of it all.
Now, he’s just anticipating if anyone today will succeed in making her talk to them.
Thirty minutes after meeting, and five minutes after [First name] comfortably settles onto a custom-made Ferrari high chair, Carlos appears in the Ferrari motorhome with an unopened pack of snack.
"Cariño, you hungry?" Like Pierre had earlier in the day, his presence interrupts [First name]’s serene before she can even fully appreciate her new surroundings. "I brought you your favorite."
[First name]’s eyes widen, curious and expectant, as they follow the snack Carlos hands over to Charles.
Charles can’t help but laugh. "This is why you asked me what [First name] likes to eat?"
Bribes are hardly surprising—especially with how effective they are with children—but they don’t always work on his daughter. Still, out of everyone competing for her attention, he never imagined the first one to go that route would be his former teammate, who is also the second paddock uncle she has met after her godfather.
"Of course," Carlos confirms with utmost confidence. He gives [First name]’s cheek a light pinch, which she ignores—her eyes still on the snack. "I won’t be losing to Oscar."
Charles carefully opens the packaging and hands her a piece. She immediately puts it in her mouth. "You mean Lewis. He made her laugh."
"I mean," his friend starts, watching as she asks for another piece with puppy eyes and her palm up, "she seems pretty happy right now. Aren’t you, cariño?"
[First name] answers by offering him a piece. She stretches her arm up high, akin to trying to reach the stars, and opens her mouth as if beckoning him to copy her.
Carlos kneels like a knight in front of her, and accepts her offering like someone who just swore his loyalty. "Thank you, [First name]. You’re very kind."
Charles, who has been reigning in his laughter at the theatrics, completely loses it when his daughter flashes a gummy smile before offering him another piece.
"I believe this crowns me as the favorite," Carlos triumphantly announces. He opts not to dignify it.
Charles, as much as he expects nothing, certainly didn’t expect to return to his Ferrari garage and find his daughter comfortably perched on Kimi’s lap.
He feels like he missed a lifetime in the twenty-five minutes he spent outside his garage. How—?
"Tonton Max a donné la sella à Toothless! Toothless non può volare sans la sella!" ["Tonton Maxie gave the saddle to Toothless! Toothless can’t fly without the saddle!"] Her animated hybrid of French and Italian freezes him—and the crowd that decidedly followed him in—in his tracks.
[First name] is talking to someone whose surname isn’t Leclerc in the paddock. Finally.
"That’s awesome, [First name]," Kimi comments, his tone just as animated. Judging by the easy back-and-forth, they seem to be conversing for a long while now. Yet, Charles knows that can’t actually be the case. It simply couldn't have been. He just left her a short while ago, quiet and clinging to his leg. "Sono sicura che Max sarà contentissimo di sapere che ti è piaciuto tanto il suo regalo!" ["I'm sure Max will be super happy to know you liked his gift so much!"]
Still, a part of him is inclined to think otherwise.
She hums in noncommittal agreement. "Papa put la sella on Toothless," ["Papa put the saddle on Toothless,"] she continues, her words a mix of English and Italian. "Poi Ollie un test drive!" ["Then Ollie (did) a test drive!"]
Charles has a lot of questions but he holds off, choosing to bask in [First name]’s newest milestone.
But, alas, the crowd behind him can only delay for so long. "She talks?!" Liam’s voice rings out, followed by a chorus of murmurs. They’re audibly—and visibly—flabbergasted.
Kimi stands up in surprise, carrying [First name] with the ease of a seasoned older brother. "Guys!" His face lights up when his eyes lands on Charles. He gently coaxes the toddler out of hiding on his shoulder. "[First name], your Papa’s here."
Like a magic charm, she immediately moves to find him, her face brightening just like Kimi did. He might’ve traveled around the world and seen countless of breathtaking scenery, but this—his daughter lightening up when she sees him—is still one of the best sights he’s seen by far.
"Hello, ma chérie," Charles greets as he relieves her from Kimi’s hold, planting a kiss on her cheek. "You had fun with Kimi?"
[First name] nods eagerly, burying her face into the crook of his neck for a moment before looking back at Kimi.
"[First name]’s been a great company," Kimi politely corroborates. "She has a lot to say."
Charles chuckles, shifting his daughter to a more comfortable position on his hip. "She usually reserves the paddock debrief until she’s off the property and sure no one else can hear."
Pierre chooses that second to whine, his voice thick with a mock-sulk. He joins Charles, placing himself directly in front of [First name]’s line of sight. "Chérie, your godfather wants to hear your debriefs, too."
[First name] just looks at him, her expression a perfect mix of solemnity and disinterest, unmoved.
A small snicker ripples through the crowd.
Max plows forward before anyone can laugh too long at Pierre’s misfortune. "I believe I just won our little bet."
"Wait— No— How—?" A chorus of confused protests erupts.
"We heard [First name] say my name first."
"That’s not exactly the bet, though, is it?" Nico counters. "[First name]’s supposed to be saying your name to you." He gestures between Max and the toddler.
Honestly, Charles is lost. He’s not sure if he already knows about this bet and just forgot, or if he never knew in the first place. He suspects the latter. Either way, as entertaining as it is, he needs them to zip it now before they scare his daughter with all their inevitably raised voices.
"[First name] clearly picks Kimi as the winner," he points out, subtly moving one shoulder as if to gesture see? without actually saying it.
He watches as the crowd takes note of how [First name] has shifted to his other side to be closer to Kimi, her tiny fingers reaching out to lightly touch his sleeve. A perpetual, innocent smile seems to have etched itself onto her face as she gazes up at him.
"Kimi’s not even part of the bet—" Lance starts.
"[First name], who’s this?" Charles tries to put a definitive end to it, pointing to the younger Mercedes driver.
Much to the rest’s heartbreak and resulting cuteness aggression, [First name]’s response comes with a delighted squeal, her eyes still on Kimi. "Kimi!"
Charles sees Ollie in his peripheral vision, dramatically clutching his chest and leaning on Esteban for support. "God, she sounds so cute. My heart can’t take this."
Isack does something similarly dramatic, wiping a nonexistent tear from his eye. "Kimi is the chosen one."
As does Franco, who sighs theatrically. "I wanted to be the chosen one."
Charles considers the relative silence of their collective heartbreak a win. [First name] is thriving and undisturbed as she plays with Kimi while still in his arms. She’s content and happy, as far as he can tell.
But, alas— "We can still fight for second!" Lando declares, instantly reigniting the rivalry.
Omg wait, the shirt story was so cute! What about CL16 being a new dad and his baby girl loves sleeping in the car and maybe the fans have noticed that he is driving slower? I hope that makes sense

The apartment was quiet in that very particular way that only existed after midnight in Monaco.
Not the glamorous, postcard Monaco. Not the yachts or champagne or music drifting through open balconies. This was the soft, sleepy version—streetlights humming gently, the distant echo of waves somewhere below the cliff, and the low ticking of a kitchen clock that Charles had forgotten to turn off.
Yn was awake.
He knew it before she made a sound.
Charles lay on his side on the couch, one arm draped awkwardly around a folded blanket, eyes half-open, listening. He held his breath, counting in his head.
One.
Two.
Three—
A tiny noise broke the silence. Not a full cry. Just a soft, confused whimper, like she wasn’t sure yet whether she wanted to be upset.
He padded barefoot across the living room toward the bassinet by the window. Yn lay bundled in pale pink, impossibly small, her fists tucked close to her chest. Her face scrunched up as she blinked, dark lashes fluttering.
Charles leaned over her, heart doing that stupid painful thing it had been doing since the day she was born.
“How are you this tiny,” he murmured. “You’re not real.”
Her lip trembled.
“Okay, okay,” he said quickly, sliding his hands beneath her with practiced care. He lifted her against his chest, supporting her head exactly the way the nurse had shown him, the way he had practiced over and over until his movements were muscle memory.
Yn let out a quiet cry. Not loud. Just offended.
“I know,” Charles whispered, swaying gently. “I know. It’s terrible being awake at two in the morning.”
He walked slow circles around the living room, rocking her softly. He hummed under his breath—something tuneless, something his own father used to hum when Arthur was small.
Yn didn’t settle.
Her cry grew sharper, her little body stiffening slightly against his chest.
Charles stopped walking.
“Hmm,” he murmured, brow furrowing. “Okay. Okay, let’s think.”
He tried the bottle. She took a few sips, then pushed it away, frowning like she was deeply unimpressed.
He changed her diaper, whispering apologies the whole time.
“I know, I know. Worst thing ever. I’m sorry. I would be mad too.”
Still, she fussed.
Charles sighed quietly and glanced at the clock on the wall.
2:07 a.m.
He looked down at her face, red and scrunched, eyes shiny with tears.
And then he smiled.
“Oh,” he breathed, realization clicking into place. “You want the car.”
It had surprised him the first time it happened.
She’d been only a few days old. Nothing had worked—rocking, feeding, walking, bouncing on an exercise ball at four in the morning like a man who had completely lost his mind.
Out of sheer desperation, he’d buckled her into the car seat and gone for a drive.
She’d fallen asleep before he reached the end of the street.
Since then, it had become their thing.
Charles moved quietly, deliberately, slipping on a hoodie and sneakers while holding Yn against his chest. He grabbed the car seat with his free hand, checking—again—that everything was properly adjusted.
“You and me,” he whispered to her. “Let’s go.”
The garage echoed softly as he opened the door. The car lights blinked on, gentle and dim, as he settled Yn into her seat with careful hands.
“Okay,” he murmured, leaning in close. “You’re safe. Papa’s here.”
He kissed her forehead, right between her eyebrows, then straightened and slid into the driver’s seat.
The engine started with a soft purr.
Charles pulled out of the garage and onto the empty street, driving slower than he ever had in his life.
Monaco at night felt like a secret.
The roads were empty, the city hushed, like it was holding its breath. Streetlights cast golden pools on the pavement as Charles drove, one hand on the wheel, the other resting lightly near Yn’s seat as if proximity alone could protect her.
Within minutes, her cries softened.
Then stopped.
Charles glanced in the rearview mirror.
Yn was asleep.
Her mouth had fallen open just slightly, lashes resting against her cheeks. One tiny hand was curled into the fabric of her blanket.
Charles smiled so hard his cheeks hurt.
“Of course,” he whispered. “Of course this works.”
He drove on, tracing familiar routes—along the harbor, past silent cafés, up the winding roads where he usually attacked corners with precision and speed.
Tonight, he barely touched the accelerator.
Every turn was smooth. Every movement careful.
It didn’t matter.
She slept.
He was turning onto a long, empty stretch near the port when flashing blue lights suddenly filled the mirrors.
Charles’s heart jumped straight into his throat.
“Oh,” he breathed, instinctively easing off the accelerator even more. “Oh no.”
He pulled over immediately, parking carefully at the curb. His hands were steady, but his mind raced.
It’s two in the morning. I’m driving at twenty kilometers per hour. This looks ridiculous.
He glanced back at Yn.
Still asleep.
“Okay,” he whispered. “Okay. Papa’s got this.”
The police car pulled in behind him. A door opened. Footsteps approached.
Charles rolled down the window slowly.
The officer leaned in slightly, flashlight angled toward the car.
“Bonsoir,” the officer said politely. “Everything okay tonight?”
“Yes—yes,” Charles replied quickly, then stopped himself and smiled sheepishly. “I mean, yes. Sorry. I wasn’t speeding or—”
“We noticed,” the officer said, glancing at the speedometer. His tone was neutral, curious rather than stern. “You were driving very slowly.”
Charles nodded. “Yes. I know. I’m sorry if that’s not—”
The officer’s gaze shifted past Charles, toward the back seat.
“What’s going on?” he asked.
Charles followed his look and softened immediately.
“My daughter,” he said quietly. “She’s a newborn.”
The officer leaned slightly to the side, peering in more carefully.
Yn slept peacefully, completely unaware of the situation.
“Oh,” the officer said, his voice dropping automatically. “She’s tiny.”
Charles nodded, unable to stop himself from smiling. “She really likes the car. It helps her sleep. So… I drive.”
“At two in the morning,” the officer added, amused.
Charles chuckled under his breath. “Yes. At two in the morning. Or three. Or whenever she needs it.”
The officer straightened, exchanging a glance with his partner.
“Well,” he said, clearing his throat. “Congratulations.”
“Thank you,” Charles replied sincerely.
“You’re doing nothing wrong,” the officer continued. “Just… maybe keep it safe.”
“I promise,” Charles said immediately. “Very safe.”
The officer smiled, stepping back. “Alright. Keep going.”
“Thank you,” Charles said, relief washing over him. “Really.”
As the police car pulled away, Charles let out a quiet laugh, shaking his head.
“Did you hear that?” he whispered to Yn. “You charmed the police.”
He drove a little longer, just to be sure she was settled, before heading home.
The next morning—or afternoon, really—Charles was on the couch with Yn asleep on his chest when his phone buzzed.
Arthur.
He reached for it carefully, making sure not to disturb her.
Arthur:

Charles frowned slightly and typed back.
Charles:
What?
Arthur:
Have you been driving like a grandpa lately?
Charles blinked.
Charles:
…maybe
Arthur:
Twitter is losing it
Charles sighed, already smiling.
Charles:
What did I do now
Arthur:
People think you’ve lost your edge 😭
“why is he driving so slow”
“is he okay”
“did someone steal his accelerator”
Charles laughed silently, shoulders shaking just a little. Yn stirred but didn’t wake.
Arthur:
Someone literally tracked your night drives 😭
Charles shook his head, amused.
Charles:
Tell them it’s strategic
Arthur:
I told them you’re training for endurance at 20 km/h
Charles snorted.
He looked down at Yn, her tiny chest rising and falling against his own.
“Worth it,” he whispered.
His phone buzzed again.
Arthur:
You’re a good dad, you know
Charles swallowed, emotion tightening his chest unexpectedly.
Charles:
I’m trying
Arthur:
She’s lucky
Charles turned off his phone and rested his head back, eyes closing as he breathed her in.
