CALLE CRISOLOGO, VIGAN, ILOCOS SUR, PHILIPPINES (January 31, 2015) For our joint January birthday celebration that year, Leilah, Barok and I had decided on a trip to the North with some of our closest friends. Specifically, we aimed to arrive in Baguio on the 30th and to drive to Vigan the following day to explore the many sights at the city capital of Ilocos Sur. Our first stop there, Calle Crisologo. A street of ancient Spanish structures, mostly houses of wealthy families and Fil-Chi traders, Calle Crisologo is the cobblestoned road of what was once the commercial hub of Northern Luzon, established even before the Galleon Trade. Today, it is a shopping destination that houses unique souvenir shops, antique boutiques, and several gourmet eateries. I look forward to coming back one day, perhaps at dusk to enjoy some ice cold cerveza and local bar chow.
