#Found a video talking about why the ending of Eu.phoria was bad and it mostly gave me a sense of why the general fanbase for that show was#unhappy with it#but it was fascinating watching it because this youtuber who shall not be named just didn't have the grounding she needed to be able to#call out the actual problem with it#because it goes deeper than bad storytelling#(which it does seem was present in spades)#like at the core of the problem with this story is that there is something morally wrong with it#the core of it is rotten#and that's something that I think has always been true of E. from what i've heard about it and seen#(and I am coming from a position of never having seen it or even clips from it so i'm going off of secondhand knowledge here)#and it's here in the final season that that's really shown itself and spilled out into the aesthetics as well#and this youtuber wasn't willing to come out and say#no the fetishization and objectification that's going on here is wrong#and so her hands were tied behind her back#also there was a point when she talked about some criticism she'd heard of people claiming#'oh this is just the type of show this is if you want a happy ending go watch a disney movie'#and she also wasn't willing to stare down THAT comment#all she said in response was that she was fine with a sad ending it was just poorly told#which fine#but that statement that perspective is part of the moral problem at the heart of the show#not even the idea that the ending wouldn't be happy but the idea that a happy ending is inherently childish or naive#anyway whoever said euphoria is evil riverdale was right
