the theia arc has been highkey terrible (imo)

they interrupted the present just to return to the past and ended up completely butchering venus's character (in my opinion!!!) and just to add the drama of a one-sided love,,, which i'd be fine with if they hadn't done it they way they did

BUT the most recent blow-up is because alvaro said that earth and luna are proto and theia's kids (and therefore also siblings) in the discord patreon chat

which you could argue was expected, BUT

we're three years of episodes in and earth and luna have never referred to each other as siblings, sooo it feels out of nowhere AND because earth is now proto and theia's kid,,, people feel sort of weird about him being shipped with venus and mars (because venus is in love with theia and mars is proto's best friend)

i'm sorta ambivalent on that,, i guess we'll see how earth "grows" in whatever arc that needs,,, but i don't have high hopes and i don't really trust alvaro at all,,, some people think this was done just to stop the most popular ships in the fandom (marth and vearth) because of homophobia, some people don't,,, it's crazy 😭😭

So, I thought about whether or not to answer your ask, anon, because it definitely gave off vibes of not being well intended (and also tumblr ate it) and I’d like to think that’s not true but to answer your question (re: Toni/Trula) and the reason I rarely write her (Toni), because I do, in fact, write her sometimes is that I’m just genuinely not invested in her. 

She came in as a bad plot device, I don’t find her to be a particularly good friend, and tbh, she’s been not great to Betty from the start. I don’t particularly care if people agree with me or not about that, no one should meet a total stranger’s girlfriend and pretty much insult her unless their intentions weren’t all that good. And no, on my scale of friendship goals, I don’t want her on my team. That’s me. If you dig her, great! Stan the hell out of her. That’s fandom is all about, finding what you love and rolling with it. If you love her, fanfuckingtastic, friend. 

I don’t want Kevin on my team either. Bad friends are rampant in Riverdale and there’s only, like, 3 people from Riverdale I’d want near me in an apocalypse. 

The issue I had with the ask in the first place is that I also rarely write Fangs too, but it seemed to single me out about Toni. Which felt very much like trying to be girls vs girls. No. We’re not doing that. I often write Sweet Pea as a jerk but that got left out too. 

The Trula thing? Really? Betty was infatuated with Archie and no one seems to worry. Why is no one worried about Adam? See? This is why the ask makes me think it was meant to be incendiary. Fanon isn’t canon. That ask was like trying to strike a match on my blog and if that wasn’t your intention, I’m sorry, truly. But, to be fair, if it was, it was never going to work anyway. Shouldn’t we be worried about Reggie and Betty if we’re worrying about stuff from the comics? Jason Blossom had it bad for Betty in the comics and somehow the show managed to sidestep that. 

If we’re going to make a list of things/people I don’t write for whatever reason, let’s at least keep it equal. I don’t have to like any character I don’t want to and neither does anyone else, I don’t know why my personal opinions are such a thing today, but again, they’re mine, I’m entitled to them and anyone is free to disagree with them. 

I just don’t want it in my inbox if they do since I don’t take it to theirs.
