Utilize uneven ground to adjust leg poses on the pose presets!
⤷ useful for fullbody and thigh-up shots
⤷ gives the illusion of walking and adds motion to the shot
If you've ever rotated Nikki when setting up a shot, you might have noticed that her legs bend independently of each other on steps or other uneven ground. We can use this to add variations to the pose presets by positioning Nikki's feet on differently raised ground spots.
In the example above, I'm using one of the railroad tracks in the Abandoned District. In the left image, both of Nikki's legs are on the same height ground. In the right image, her legs are on different heights. The railing has a raised edge with collision that raises Nikki's back leg up, while the foreground is lower, so her front leg reaches further down. The end result has Nikki trekking along the railroad instead of ambling along the railroad.
⤷ works best in dark environments with rim lighting
Since @catboyfurina asked, here we go!
tldr; soft light intensity + range at max in a dark setting.
The "soft light" settings in Infinity Nikki's camera settings is the same thing as "bloom". This is the glowy stuff when there's a very bright light and the camera captures the light bleeding into other areas.
Below we have all default camera settings:
And here's the effect with just soft light intensity set to max at max range.
Notice how the shot is fuzzy since the soft light blends the colors together a bit and we lose a fair bit of contrast. We can fix that by make sure there's enough contrast between where the light is and everything else.
Below I added the ambient back lighting. This makes it so that the brightest parts will be the edges of Nikki's silhouette, which is where we want to highest contrast to be. If we used a frontal light, everything hit by the light will turn white and we won't be able to see anything.
Next I put the soft light intensity at max again. As you can see, pushing the soft light intensity setting to max will just blast the entire screen with light, so we need to make sure there is dark areas for the glow to actually show up. I use a combination of a dark environment, turning down exposure/brightness, and using rim lighting to ensure there is enough shadow around Nikki for the glow to be seen.
Next we turn down brightness and exposure. This makes is so that only the places where there is the most light will glow.
We are no longer getting blinded by the soft light, but the photo is still a bit greyish, so we'll turn up the contrast a bit too. This will make Nikki stand out a bit more clearly against the background and make the rim light define the silhouette.
Soft light will also blend the colors, so with so much different colors blending, the end result is a bit washed out, so we turn up the saturation too. Either regular saturation or natural saturation will work.
All of the settings can be adjusted to your preference, so just play around with it!
✧・°・。・°・。・ the bicycle is so cute! i also verified that the post-processing setting must be medium or higher to get the depth of field bokeh with the aperture setting!
Capture action shots with special physics effects using Moment Capturer.
Using default keybind F12 will go into "Moment Capturer mode", which is different than "Momo's Camera: Normal Mode" (the usual photo mode with default keybind P). This is useful for shooting action shots in areas where there are special physics effects like water splashing. Moment Capturer mode will freeze the physics of everything, including Nikki and any special effects.
In this example, I'm using the beach area by the Soul Tide teleport. Jumping in the watery area has a splash effect, so jump around in the water and enter "Moment Capturer" as the splash effect comes up. For best special effect results, graphic settings will need to be turned all the way to max.
Moment Capturer doesn't have camera parameter presets saved, but I do have the Save Settings" toggle enabled in normal camera mode, so I only need to turn on any extra filters and lighting to get the consistent effect across all my photos.
I heard that if you want to use different poses that are available in Normal mode, you have to use the Nameless Selfless whimsicality (which I don't have). The alternative I found was to put an emote on the "Actions" bar (open settings with CapsLock & make sure to save the settings), have it preselected so that the emote executes when you hit the Action keybind (default Z). Then jump in the water (space), execute emote (Z), and enter Moment Capturer (F12).
Use handheld items to limit one arm's pose while using the pose preset for the free arm!
⤷ useful for portrait shots
⤷ further hide the item with some clever framing if the item itself doesn't match your fit
⤷ not all poses have handheld item support, so play around with it
Let's start with a preset pose that has some interesting arm posing. Below uses the level 10 pose "Flying Kiss" with both arms are up.
We'll limit the pose of the right arm and let the left arm do what it normally does in the preset pose. To do this, we'll pick a handheld item that is held by the right hand and is also held down and away from the body to make the pose different from the preset post. I'm using the "Fortune's Carriage" handheld, but any right-handed handheld item that is held downwards will work.
With the handheld item and the pose together, we have the front right arm positioned down, but the left arm is still up in the "Flying Kiss" pose, creating a "one-handed blow kiss pose" like below.
We're still quite early on in the game, so there aren't too many handheld item options. Chances are they won't necessarily match the outfit you're trying to take photos of. With some clever framing or cropping, we can just hide the item altogether in the final shot composition. This is why this trick works particularly well for portrait shots where the whole arm is often not in frame anyway.
Bonus tips! Remember that we have handheld items for both left and right hands. Pose presets only offer fixed pose the arms with no ability to "flip" a pose, so try mixing handheld items on either arm with different preset poses. Note that we currently only have two handheld items held by the left arm -- "Eternal Blossoms" and "Purple Thoughts". Both items are flowers being held up to the torso area, so these ones will not be easily framed if you wanted to hide them.
Also remember that we get some fun poses when sitting on different seats/swings/ground spots or interacting with special items. The handheld item will work in some of these situations too to spruce up your shots!
