Re: Megumi and Tomis friendship ask (i wanted to follow up on that post itself but got two friends into playing 13sar so to avoid spoilering them im here instead! hope thats okaay!)
I do think the friendship was strained from the moment Tomi left sector 3 before Megumi. Tomi couldn’t accept what happened to her home having not seen the disaster for herself and Megumi couldn’t accept the second chance of a “normal” school life given to her after the horrors she did witness, and trauma that came with it.
This difference made it easier for Tomi to reach out and befriend Iori and Miwako. And as for Megumi, she probably thought it be better for Tomi to have other friends besides her too. It was clear Megumi didn’t think much of a normal school life after everything- knowing fully well it would be temporary too.
I keep thinking of that one scene in Ioris prologue- where Tomi first introduces herself to Miwako and Iori, and in hindsight- see that shes being vauge about where she came from. And shortly after you see Megumi arrive to scold Natsuno… and Tomi doesnt talk to her at all? Nothing like “Oh hey Megumi” or anything. At that scene- it already felt like the two were pretty distant.
The two of them were going through two different realities that they probably couldn’t really interact until *after* Tomi saw sector 3 for herself…and realize what Megumi was going through.
Thats just my thoughts on it though 👀 I do wish we saw more of them together tho… like that scene after she tries to shoot Ei again in the nurses office

gosh the fact that Tomi left before Megumi... and Tomi not even knowing how Megumi and Juro were for a while if their interaction when they see each other again in 1985 is anything to go by... goooosh it hurts my heart. Like they've always been close and now this awful event has put a wedge between them ; o ;
And you're so right about Megumi and Tomi basically living in two different realities for the longest time, like they both only have some parts of the truth but not enough for them to relate to one another. I think about Tomi jumping into fight to help Megumi during the destruction mode tutorial, how she's making sure Megumi is recovering before Megumi jumps back into the fight, hell she's still joking with her friend in the face of danger and it's such a sweet little moment imo, and Megumi being so apologetic to Tomi too aaaaaa I just want them to be able to hang out and eat treats together again 😭😭
I also think about the moment between Megumi and Ei in the nurses office! And when Tomi went after Megumi... what happened afterwards between them?? I need to knoooooo
