My White Bear

I imagine him out there in the woods, my big white bear. He’s a deer hunter, but he doesn’t actually kill anything, he just exists in the quiet, watching over the world. When I’m with him, I don’t have to worry about being eighteen or figuring out my life. I’m just his little girl, his princess, and he treats me like I’m the most precious thing he’s ever found.

When the world gets too loud and everyone is judging me, I just want to disappear into him. I want to be held in those big arms of his, feeling the soft, beautiful hair on his skin and against his chest while he just holds me close. In his embrace, I’m safe. My dada looks at me and doesn’t see someone who’s "ugly" or "messing up." He just sees his girl. Everything feels quiet and okay when I'm wrapped up in him, protected from everything outside.
