Angry Humanist - The Facebook Sendoff 2.0
I'm sorry to see you go, C. Brewer. Not really. Just goes to show how shallow some "friendships" really are. Challenge that oh so precious white privilege (the foundation of systemic racism) and you're no longer that cool black friend, ya know the one they don't actually talk to but the one referenced when they say, "I'm not racist; I have black friends." Inflammatory? Perhaps... But what else can you call someone who ignores things that get people who look like you killed? Or support things that often cause you harm? Or delight in silencing your voice and marginalizing your justifiable outrage? Or always have an excuse for why the unarmed black person had it coming? Whatever you call that, it sure as hell isn't "friend." That goes for anyone and any ideology (or practice). If you care more about an idea than the prolonged mental and/or physical anguish, destitution or death suffered by others because of that idea, you're part of the problem. It would be in your best interest to start evaluating why you hold onto those ideas and hopefully change. Or you could just unfriend me instead to avoid these annoying exercises in introspection. Tough choice, yes?
