The South African Haemanthus albiflos (white paintbrush) is an evergreen bulbous perennial. The spreading, broad, strap-shaped leaves form a pleasing contrast to the brush-like small white flowers held within broad greenish-white bracts. Sometimes the flowers are followed by orange-red berries and my plant was grown from seed by a friend from their plant.
