A work in progress... I finally got around to updating Phoenix's visual design. The 2011 version I included is pretty dated. I still like how its tail burns my eyes to dust if I look at it for more than 5 seconds though. I want to keep that but also expand her eyeburning repertoire and maybe even give her 1 more human form design since she IS supposed to have a ton. I would include native form variants like... piebald and stuff; even for Griffin I thought a melanistic or golden form would be cute, but man is it a lot of work and not top priority either. Suffice it to say, they have more range than what I depict. We'll see how much energy I'll have - I'm on the fence about drawing her fave human form for the sheet because I have recent examples of it. I've been putting off updating her self-roasting turkey form because... well look at it Anyway, now I can say "I have a tentacle cock monster mural on my acid trip chicken's ref sheet"

How about some MORE ANIMATION? This one's all 2D. Its purpose was to figure out the action in peace, without the lunatic camera doing sideways backflips on me. The griffin's hindlegs sliding across the floor as she tries to stop and turn was unplanned! It got introduced with this test. And in this, my dude does not yank the spear out of her, he just does a dive roll to avoid the flurry of talons descending on him. I was fiddling around with the 3D to find camera angles I liked; that's when I accidentally found out that this move is not only possible, but also easy to add, and wraps the action up well.
some say his shoulder is still jiggling
The griffin model I made as a reference for the animation! I didn't plan to make a 3D ref at all, I just kept caving in bit by bit. At first I only had the head. I thought "I guess I can fuse it to the body nicely when I learn retopology?" but… retopo didn't want to happen.
I made it with the mouth open because 1, I needed it to look its best when its open and 2, I put no faith in my ability to rig the face (or anything else). It's my first rig. It's rough. But I'm really excited to have my own custom posable monster girl toy regardless.
It was going to be even rougher in the scene mockups
Sidenote; I had to save the dude's ass so many times. Realistically he'd have been pulverized about 5 times. "How about you don't dive roll that way." "How about I move the talons a bit to the side so you don't get slapped out of the air like a mosquito." I wonder what the success rate of herons is when they torpedo their head forward to catch prey.
MONKEY WINS! I made this silly thing before I made the animation, hehe. Don't worry, the griffin will be alright. She's just waiting for him to stop posing. It's a victory-poledance... I'll show myself out :')
