Remember Arctica? That splendid bro bar in the heart of Murray Hill? And one of the first bars I ever went to in the city like a decade ago? Insert "I'm old" groan. It turned into Whitman & Bloom (384 3rd Avenue) and is a skip away from my apartment. And go figure, had never peeked in until yesterday.
Adorned with a suave "19th century vintage antique" vibe, it has a very decent happy hour with select $5 beers, $6 wines, and $7 cocktails until 8pm. Hello other establishments, that is a good happy ending hour - none of that "Oooohoohooo look at our happy hour from 4-6pm!" business. I went for a couple Whitman Spritzer cocktails, and the bartender at the back bar, Stephanie, was simply adorable as well.
Though I didn't nibble on any food, it certainly smelled divine. Very solid spot.
