I’m almost finished with the Graceling trilogy and here are some thoughts.

Katsa is so overdramatic and I kinda lowkey love her for it.

I need Fire in my life.

Po is my golden prince.

Leck is a goddamn bastard and deserved a more drawn out death.

Bitterblue is freaking smart as hell!

Saffire is a smartass thief and I just want to squish him.

I think Bitterblue is my favorite of the series but Fire is a close second.

I kinda wish there was more of this world because there’s SOMUCH to be discovered.

I love that it’s a fantasy series but there’s not one thing patriarchal about it.

There are POC, LGBTQ folks, every personality imaginable, and no one mades snide comments about them or puts them down for anything other than whether or not they’re a shitty person.

So, I'm reading Graceling by Kristin Cashore and the writing feels so...stunted. It's like Captain Kirk wrote a YA novel, tbh. I like it, but after reading so many books with flowing narrative or purple prose, it's just so unusual to read something that's so straight forward and simple. Also, Katsa is so awesome! I mean, sometimes she's annoying because she's a bit of a drama queen but at the same time it's funny. I just love that she's so not into getting married or having kids. I've NEVER read a book with a character like that so it's definitely refreshing for me.

Alright, I know there’s not a whole lot of comic nerds within the booklr community (that I’ve found) but I have to ask..

Has anyone read Sex Criminals? Cause if you haven’t and you’re okay with (obviously) explicit artwork, sex, nudity, kinks, etc. etc. then you need to read these comics because oh my God!

It’s the most body positive, sex positive, pro woman comic I’ve ever read short of Bitch Planet. It’s funny, realistic, dramatic without being superfluous, and just downright FUNNY! It deals with a whole lot of social issues regarding sex, masturbation, the societal judgements of the two, and even mental illness issues such as ADHD, OCD, and ODD. It’s super fucking good, y'all!

I’ve devoured the first two volumes in a few hours and plan to binge the next two today, it’s that good!
