Few days ago, I went to Whoaremaro’s Life Drawing Setup as one of their featured artist! I’m glad I finally met other local artists (hello Jappy, Nando, Rian&Koi!). The models were superb! Hands down to their endurance in maintaining elegant poses.

As a partnership we always nag ourselves and each other on WHY we do the things we do. WHY make an event? WHY about art? WHY blog about it?
Fortunately, we’ve established our “why” very early on and we never let each other forget about it. Forgetting WHY we do things will be the death of us. Seriously. We remind each other why we do the things we do to such a degree that it gets annoying like: “OKAY, I GET IT!”.
We never let ourselves forget “why” because it’s that important. If we talk about what we believe, then we will attract those who believe in what we believe.
We believe that for any ambition it is crucial to ask: WHY do we choose to do this and WHY should anyone care? We are by no means experts on the topics we talk about, but we try our best to help others in the most efficient way we can.
But getting back to the question: WHY are we doing all of this in the first place? We’ve condensed it all down to the three things we value the most: to excite continuous learning, to strengthen the creative community, and to promote independent creators.

TO EXCITE CONTINUOUS LEARNING
Learning is our most favourite thing ever. It’s addictive and extremely satisfying, especially after seeing improvement over something you’ve worked hard for.
It’s always heartwarming to see people who are hungry to learn about specific things, and we’re here to give them a platform to do so. It’s also humbling to know that the more you discover, the more there is to explore.
TO STRENGTHEN THE CREATIVE COMMUNITY
We know for a fact that no one makes it on their own. A person’s success can always be attributed to the people they hang out with. This is very evident in tight-knit communities that are very supportive of one another.
We believe in creating trusted circles of people you’re excited to see. This way, you could share stories and lessons while building upon each other's mistakes and successes.
Not to mention that in the end it’s all just plain fun.
TO PROMOTE INDEPENDENT CREATORS
We strongly believe in promoting independent artists to get the recognition they deserve.
Why independent? Because independent projects are done out of passion. It’s the truest form of self-expression.
We want to strengthen people who do the things that inspire them; to surround ourselves with people who take the leap to start their own projects when it’s the most ideal time to do so.
When you create your own comic, fund your own film or produce your own EP; no one told you to that. You just made it because it’s something you truly enjoy.
We made our first pursuit a life drawing event for a reason. As a start, it was the easiest thing we could do to cover all these reasons why we do what we do. We’re currently very early in our development and we’re planning BIG things. But who knows? Maybe in the future we might build grander events or move over to creating products. Stay tuned.
