Anna Maresova is a Czech product designer specializing in industrial design. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Art and Design at J. E. Purkyne University in Usti nad Labem as well as at the University of Derby. Although Whoop.de.doo is a young brand, its beginnings go all the way back to 2011 when Anna decided to compose her master’s thesis on the topic of erotic aids for women.
Shortly after, her new design was awarded the National Prize for Student Design in 2011, the Exit Design Award 2011, and was named Prototype of the Year by the magazine Dolce Vita. Two years later, the designer established the studio Anna Maresova Designers and the Whoop.de.doo brand.
The Venus Balls were the very first product created by the brand. The toy earned not only a great response from public but also from gynecologists and clinical sexologists thanks to its considerable health benefit. The Venus Balls help strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor and improve overall wellbeing at both the sexual and emotional levels. Its mechanism of “balls within balls” is concealed under a layer of silicon, so the Venus balls are simple, hygienic, functional and watertight.
Whoop.de.doo is not merely a product, but a style of communicating about and promoting intimate products for women.
“I wanted to create an ideal design that would show that even a sex toy can come across as light, elegant and gentle at the same time. My goal was also to mark out the territory between eroticism and medicine, and to bring a high quality product into the world. It wasn’t easy, but thanks to the reception by the public and also the acceptance it has received directly from experts and doctors, I dare say we have succeeded.”
In 2015 another product from the line of erotic toys for woman made its market debut. This time around it was the Whoop.de.doo Vibrator which was later awarded by the international jury of the Red Dot Design Award 2016, where it was competing with the total of 5,200 products from 57 countries.
This gained support naturally led to brand expansion and introduction of new edition of Venus Balls NOIR Heavy - the heaviest of their kind on the market. The heavier version also works to prevent incontinence and, in moderate cases, they can even eliminate it all together. The heavier the balls, the stronger the pelvic floor. They also offer something the competition’s products do not – intense vibrations.
Anna Maresova and her brand successfully started an open conversation about intimacy in Czech Republic. Now they are ready to conquer the global market. Let’s keep an eye on them to see what comes next!
