Hello and happy holidays! 🥂✨ Over the past couple months of semi-hiatus I’ve had time to reflect on what’s next for me here—specifically, how I want to best enjoy my free time in this game and community—and I think I’ve got a pretty good idea of what I want to do. 

Lots of rambling on that below the cut, but tl;dr you can expect me back with more build projects and new gameplay kicking off in 2023! 💗

I’ve had a few folks ask about what my next story will be after wrapping up La Boca Cerrada this fall, but tbh I don’t think I’ll actually tell another story quite like that ever again...? (A sigh of relief for some, surely!) I mean, never say never and all that, but for me, LBC has been a unique experience: a story I just couldn’t get out of my head, characters and scenes I couldn’t stop seeing play out in the Sims. There’s nothing like it simmering on the back burner. 

I’ve learned a ton from the experience: mods like TOOL and Pose Player, but also just like the completely absurd level of determination and stick-to-itiveness required to tell a long-form story start to finish via 2–4 posts per day over the course of literal years. It’s been a journey—one I'm proud and grateful to have taken with you—but not a path I'll be looking to revisit anytime soon.

So yeah! What comes next? Every pack release post Discover University I haven’t really explored past build mode. With the quality of some of the more recent releases that uhhhhh hasn't really been a big issue. 🥴 But I’ve been wanting for a long time now to play in Evergreen Harbor, so that’s exactly where I’m headed! I’ve been having fun for awhile now setting up a save there for my own spin on the Build a City Challenge, and while I have a few background details in mind, I'm going back to my gameplay-driven storytelling roots. Which—fingers crossed—should require a lot less planning and posing and other time-consuming stuff, hopefully leaving me with a better balance of time for build mode projects as well. Speaking of which... 👀

Simblreen is upon us and I can tell because I’m already getting trick or treat asks! 😅

Unfortunately I’m not going to be doing the porchlight thing this year. I’ve been putting 110% into wrapping up the final chapter of La Boca Cerrada. My apologies to everyone who follows me for builds and in spite of my dedication to this story, but in fairness, it is at long last coming to its end and that is good news for everyone. 😉

I do have a new spooky build or two to share this month, but I’m planning to share those publicly for simplicity’s sake this year. 🖤 Thanks for understanding!

Oh, hello. 👋 

I’ve really been enjoying this brief semi-hiatus, building absurd ‘80s bathrooms and just like... not playing the Sims when I don’t feel like doing so...? It’s nice.

But I’ve also been productive, I swear! The La Boca Cerrada summary is coming this week—in multiple parts because it’s too long for one post. Oops. (Either I’m terrible at editing things down or this story has been going on for way too long... Probably both? 🙈) And, if all goes according to plan, the 4th and final chapter should start back up next week. 💗✨

I did not intend to take this long of a break—or really have any plans at all to take one at all this fall—but it turned out to be much needed. 

I’m not back quite yet... But I will be soon. 🖤 

I’ve been channeling my anxiety over my mom unfortunately (and unsurprisingly, giving her indefensible “choice” to remain unvaccinated) contracting covid into a whole lot of building. Several weeks later, she’s properly on the mend and I’m on track to have 6 new builds to share for simblreen later this month—something I haven’t managed since 2018! Who’d have thought? 🤷🏼‍♀️ 

Until then, I’ll be catching up on asks, reblogging old simblreen gifts and otherwise appropriately spooky builds, and preparing to dive back into the doom and gloom of La Boca Cerrada.

My (pre-trailer drop) Snowy Escape thoughts, in no particular order... 

I figured this would be the pack we’d get this quarter (i.e. winter sports, hotels)—but I definitely did not anticipate the Japan-esque setting, at least not until seeing the lilsimsie leaks.

I am super freaking excited to be getting a non-American, non-Eurocentric world—but I do find it, uh, a lil’ questionable that all 4 of the Game Changers brought in for help on this pack are white? 👀

The nomenclature of Snowy Escape fits in with the naming conventions of vacation packs like Outdoor Retreat, Jungle Adventure, and the pack that must not be named (as compared to Island Living) AND there is a rental property icon visible on the (leaked) world map—BUT this would be the first time an Expansion Pack came with a destination world... So, I do not think that is what will be happening here... 

My prediction is that we are getting a basegame update that unlocks new functionality in destination worlds (except maybe—cringe—Batuu?) that will make vacation worlds liveable and/or unlock the ability to create vacation rentals in all worlds. 

Oh and, yeah, we are absolutely getting hotels and I am here for it.

I could really care less about snowboarding (personally) but am super enamored with the sledding/tobogganing siblings or parent/child situation in the preview renders. We need more hobbies and interactions for different life stages. More of this, please!

I was going to say that rock climbing in winter seems dangerous, but apparently ice free soloing is a thing and I am incredibly intimidated. I can’t even walk on an icy sidewalk without risking my life. 😳

That’s enough rambling for now! I’m looking forward to the trailer drop tomorrow and, I’ve gotta say, it feels good to feel somewhat optimistic about a new pack again. 🥺

I’ve been sitting on this ask for a week now (already failed my New Year’s resolution rip) because 1) to respond in earnest would have meant spoilers for previously unpublished posts and 2) frankly I just don’t love the tone here, Anon.

I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you / everyone that this story is based on real-life events. No amount of asks will move me to add or change major plot points. It’s just... not going to happen. I’d also like to point out that, while I greatly enjoy engaging with anybody following along (I love this story, too—if I didn’t, I wouldn’t bother retelling it), rude / pushy / harassing anonymous asks are not my cup of tea.
