I think in light of several things we could all use a little positivity, so let's all make an effort to tell our favorite creators that we appreciate them. If you are a creator, reblog this post and list why you create or what your favorite thing about creating is and use the tag #whyicreate then go out and leave a nice comment on a piece of art or a fanfic that you like. Let's spread love in the community instead of hate. ❤
I'll start:
I write because it's fun. Plain and simple. I started writing when I was 11 years old, and wouldn't ya know, the first thing I ever wrote was fanfiction. I used to write it during my free time in class, and my English/reading teacher used to call it my "epic" because I was always writing.
Eventually I branched into my own ideas, but then I suffered from a bout of depression when I got to high school that took me many years to fully overcome. In that time I stopped writing and made excuses that I had AP homework to do or band practice or I was too tired but in all actuality I had lost my inspiration.
It wasn't until the end of my sophomore year of college that I discovered Miraculous, and the only reason I discovered it was because of fanworks on tumblr. All of a sudden I started coming up with ideas and finding inspiration to write again. I didn't care if my ideas would never be canon. It was fun. And now as a seasoned Miraculer, I still find enjoyment out of writing fanfiction, and I have also started finding inspiration for my own ideas again. I've made friends (and enemies) from fandom, and I have people all the time who tell me that my writing made them smile even for a little while, and ya know what, that's good enough for me.
