Yes I actually did get called a bitch by a customer yesterday it went a little like I was doing my job, which basically includes constantly circulating the open registers, supervising, solving technical issues, loaning money, and directing customers to lanes. I stopped to say something to a co worker, and also to give my legs a breaks because God damn working 11 days in a row is hard. A guy walks by. My coworker says how are you today sir? He grunts a response and keeps going. My co worker says are you ready to check out sir? He grunts and walks away. Another woman walks by and my co worker takes her instead. Another worker calls me over for a problem. As I'm fixing the problem the guy is pacing between the open lanes because apparently none of the lines are short enough for him. I look up as the guy walks by, simultaneously fixing the problem and scanning for customers who may have been waiting too long, including this guy. I catch sight if the guy and he says, loudly, Don't look at me you fucking bitch. My mouth drops open and I look at my coworker and his customer, both with similar faces on, and say did he just...? And then I started laughing. The guy then gets into the longer line and tells the guy checking he wants to speak to a manager. This guy is kind of new so he looks to me and asks who to call. I tell him to call the manager who is known for not tolerating customers who treat people with no respect, just to see what would happen. The guy starts to complain. And the manager starts to apologize until he points at me and says "and that bitch" Time stops for a minute. The manager squares his shoulders looks the guy right in the eye and says I'm sorry we are not meeting your standards, but I swear to god if you call one of my employees a name like that one more time I will pick you up by your collar and toss you out of here myself. Respect her, or choose to take your business anywhere else. And without another word he walked away. I laughed more.
