Back from Korea & Back on Broadway! & please meet Eva!

So, I'm back home from Seoul & totally loving life...

Just to apologize to anyone who follows my blog...  I stopped posting because I unfortunately spilled Chilsing (Korean Sprite) all over my laptop in Korea & wasn't able to post pics at the end of my stay. 

I may not be in Korea anymore, but I've decided to continue my blog.  I have more pics to post from the end of my trip in Seoul & of course, life continues back here in Brooklyn, NY. 

I'm so happy and honored to rejoin the NY Company of Wicked.  I will be filling in for the fabulous Donna Vivino for 5 weeks (until November 18th).  I will have dates that I will be on coming up & will post them as soon as they are confirmed. 

On another note, you will be seeing some pics soon of my new puppy, Eva!  My boyfriend surprised me with her at the airport - after my 25 hour travel day(s).  She is a Catahoula Leopard Dog, a breed we have been researching for quite some time, and she is just perfect!  I've only known her a week now & I'm already so in love!  She is definitely a puppy, so she is taking up quite a bit of my time, but it's so worth it!  She had her first day of school yesterday with our new trainer & she did so well.  We are going to teach her how to behave like a lady cause she is going to be quite big :) 

Also, I've finally started designing my website, which will be up and running very soon.  I will definitely let you all know when it is getting ready to launch, so keep an eye out!

So, that's what's going on with me.  Lots of pics from the end of Korea to come!  Hope you all had a lovely summer & please keep keeping in touch!

Changdeokgung Palace

The Changdeokgung Palace, literally meaning "Palace of Prospering Virtue", is one of the 5 Grand Palaces built in Seoul by the Kings of the Joseon Dynasty.  Changdeokgung was the second palace built after Gyeongbokgung Palace which was established in 1395 as a primary palace. This Palace was absolutely beautiful!  Rion and I went there mostly to see the Secret Garden on the grounds, but unfortunately, as you can tell by my first photo, it was closed because of a wild boar :(   **I hope to get there before I leave Seoul!

Anyways, we decided to make the best of it and walk the grounds on our own.  Once we got in, we heard an English speaking tour and followed them around to hear the tour guides information.  That worked for the first 20 minutes & then we decided to go off on our own.  The day was very very hot so we were trying to find cool areas.  This Palace is absolutely massive.  And I can't imagine how big it was when it was first built.  Changdeokgung Palace was heavily damaged during the Japanese occupation of Korea & now only 30% of the structures still stand. 

Injeongjeon Hall (shown in the last photo) is considered a National Treasure.  Major state affairs including the coronation of a new king would be held here.  Injeongjeon has quite a history, first built in 1405, it had to be rebuilt in 1610 after being burned down during the 1592 Japanese invasion.  After being destroyed by another fire, it was rebuilt for a third time in 1804.

**  The large light bulbs held inside this building are original Edison bulbs!!

Part 2 - Seoul Tower

I have definitely been a procrastinator lately, considering I haven't posted anything in about 3 weeks :(  But here is part 2 of the Seoul Tower! 

This post is mostly of the amazing meal my boyfriend and I had at the top of the Seoul Tower.  The French Restaurant, The N Grill, is very much like the Marriott Marquis in NYC, because it slowly revolves while you sit, eat, & enjoy the 360 degree view of Seoul.

As of Monday, I have 5 weeks left in Seoul & then it's back to NYC!  I have also FINALLY figured out my video, so I will be posting video responses & video adventures very soon!  Also, I'm going to be better about posting more photo's, so expect more than 1 post a week!!!!

N. Seoul Tower

The N. Seoul Tower, also known as the Namsan Tower, is definitely a Seoul landmark.  It was built in 1969 & sits on top of a mountain close to the center of the city.  Now I, of course, wanted to go up there to get the best view of Seoul, but I also saved it for my boyfriends trip here because of the "Locks of Love".  People from all over the world have been there and left locks & markers, showing their love for their partners, friends, or family.  It's absolutely beautiful & I could've stayed there for hours reading (or trying to read) all the sweet messages.  I know it's a bit cheesy, but Rion and I happily found a perfect place for our lock & if we ever come back to Seoul together, we'll have to come back to find it. 

Before locking our lock in place, we ate at the restaurant at the top of the tower!  It's very much like the Marriott Marquis in NY, where the restaurant slowly spins so you get the entire view of the city!  It was such a great day & I'll be posting pictures of our meal next :)

Namdaemun Market

This massive day market has been running since BEFORE cars were around.  It's the largest in Seoul & definitely has everything you could want or need.  Being the most popular of the markets here, is definitely saying something for the blocks & blocks of every store imaginable, since the day & night markets are hot spots for visitors to Seoul. 

This place was full of clothing, bags, purses, luggage, eye wear, fresh seafood, vegetables, housewares, toys, Korean trinkets, beauty products, camping gear, etc.....  Everything you can imagine, they most likely sell it here - or atleast the cheap knock off version.  I bought 2 pairs of perscription glasses (including a free eye exam) for 100,000 won (which is about $88!).  AND to make it even better, they put my lenses in both of them in less than a half hour!!! Pretty awesome if you ask me.  **Makes you wonder what they are doing with your glasses in the states when you get new lenses put in them & it takes at least a week to get them back!

Anyways, this set of pics, plus the next few, will be of the sights I saw in Namdaemun Market.

War Memorial Museum

This place was pretty incredible!  Charles and I spent almost 5 hours here! 

This place was built to memorialize the War in Korea that lasted 3 years (June of 1950 to July of 1953). 

The next set of photo's are a part of this day, as well.
