Did you know? 👂The magnificent ears of a black-tailed jackrabbit (Lepus californicus) can measure up to 5.1 in (13 cm) long—about 20 percent of the animal’s entire body length. If this ratio were applied to humans, the average person would have ears larger than 13 in (33 cm) tall! This critter uses its ears to release heat, helping it cool down in its arid habitat. The black-tailed jackrabbit feeds on grasses, cacti, and other greenery, obtaining most of its moisture from plant material. It can be found in parts of the southwestern United States and Mexico.

Let's Talk About Raccoons and Social Media!

Hi my friends! It's me again, you're friendly neighborhood raccoon biologist. I am coming to y'all today with the hope we can have a conversation about the impact of social media and raccoons.

I am about to start working on a project for an academic conference, and would love to do some brainstorming with y'all. Anyway...

Would you say raccoons are trendy? What do you think started that trend? What do you enjoy about raccoons?

Do you feel like the reputation of raccoons has changed due to social media and memes?

Can you think of any raccoon focused channels/accounts/etc you watch or that you come across frequently?

Do you think social media can hurt raccoons? Do you think it can help raccoons? Feel free to add anything else you might want to discuss!!

For ethical transparency, this isn't any kind of formal survey or anything, I am not going to be compiling and analyzing these answers. I am going to be use this to determine what sort of things I need to dig deeper into, and to think about things and viewpoints I may not have considered in the past.
