description : amélie finds out about r’s age regression after having been friends with them for a few years now as they’re preparing for a mission.
spiderling
it wasn’t that you thought amélie would take it badly, you simply didn’t know how she would take it at all.
plus, she was always so busy with missions, as were you, that you didn’t have much down time for regression, anyway, let alone to have that hard conversation with her.
it was hard to guess how the assassin would react to your admission when you got around to it; you’d never seen her talk to a kid, or even mention her opinion on them, plus, she was normally so harsh with everyone she met.
though, all of your other friends did seem to note that she was exceptionally gentle with you, protecting you from harm and even hugging you when it suited her.
though, that didn’t mean you were exactly excited when you felt yourself starting to slip before an important mission.
‘ready?’ she questioned as the two of you sat in a room preparing to board the ship that would take you to the mission location.
you swung your legs as you sat down, noticing your lack of shoes as your brain started to feel fuzzy.
‘shoes!’ you exclaimed, and she pointed to somewhere at the other end of the room to signal where they were.
when you didn’t make any move to go and get them, she furrowed her eyebrows, walking over to find them herself and strap them onto your feet.
‘you feeling okay, y/l/n?’
you hummed a noise of approval, starting to realise the full gravity of the situation - you were about to embark on a mission to potentially save hundreds of people, and you felt your mental age becoming smaller and smaller as you waited.
though, as you tried to stop it, it only seemed to make it worse, fear overtaking you as your eyes brimmed with tears.
‘hey… you’re crying?’ she wondered out loud, wiping at your tears with her thumbs before she even knew why.
you fell forward, burying your face in her neck as you sniffled, and she immediately took to rubbing her hand across your back soothingly.
maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to tell her, after all.
though, it looked like you wouldn’t have much choice as you moved your head to the side to suck on your thumb subconsciously, far too small now to even realise that what you were doing was a dead giveaway.
when she saw you, her face seemed to flash with confusion, before realisation set in and she sighed, stroking your hair with her other free hand.
‘the ship will be here in a minute.’
you whined in stressed upset, attempting to wriggle out of her embrace, but she shushed you, holding you close as she stopped stroking your hair to pull out her phone.
‘be quiet for a moment, chéri, i need to make a call.’
you nodded against her, quietly sucking on your thumb as you listened carefully.
‘hi, it’s lacroix.’ she began, ‘i’m going to have to pull out of this mission- yes, i know it’s short notice, but something came up i- no, i’m sorry. ziegler and the shimada brothers are free. thank you, sir.’
you felt her put her phone back down somewhere as she sat you up to face her, but pulled you so that you were fully sitting on her lap.
‘done, mon cœur.’ she kissed your forehead and you practically purred in contentment; you’d always regressed alone, normally when you were in a bad way, and you’d always heard stories of people having someone to look after them, but never felt it yourself.
'how old are you?' she questioned quietly, stroking your hair. she had a general idea of what was happening, but she'd only vaguely heard stories and didn't have much knowledge of age regression.
'three.' you mumbled, slight fear still evident in your voice despite her comfort.
she tutted, making a cooing noise as she ran her thumb over your cheek.
'you're so tiny.' she marvelled, genuine affection and intrigue lacing her words, putting you at ease.
you mumbled, nuzzling into her neck.
amélie whispered her next words, as if worried that she would say something wrong, 'i love you, petit amour.'
you smiled into her neck, making little noises which you hoped she would interpret as an i love you too.
'let's go back to my house, oui?' she ruffled your hair as she stood up, keeping you in her arms. 'i'm sure that we can find some food and toys for you to enjoy.'
