TIM brings innovation to its corporate clients’ mobile strategies with Wiman WiFi connectivity solution for 4G network.
Partnership with Wiman, the sharing economy WiFi company and the developer of the technology which offers WiFi connectivity in taxis, buses and retail locations through the TIM 4G network.
Attentive to market needs and innovating again, TIM launches a pioneering solution delivering WiFi connectivity services routed through its mobile network to any user of the mobile operator’s corporate clients integrated mobile apps, making it available to end user customers or visitors to their retail locations through WiFi networks already existing in their stores, without the need for investment in new equipment. One needs only install the mobile application (“mobile app”) of the company integrated with our solution and your customers can seamlessly and securely authenticate via their smartphones transparently in the background to the WiFi. This solution has as corporate clients focusing on retail segments such as restaurants and hospitality, for example.
Another interesting application is in the automotive sector. The company deploys the solution as a driver-side application which enables the driver’s smartphone to operate as a secure WiFi router, providing their passengers automatic and seamless connectivity to the in-car WiFi network via a passenger app. In this case all the internet connection is made via the TIM 4G network. Taxi companies or public transport are target customers of this solution.
These two modes will give corporate clients access to a web portal where you can monitor the access statistics on the network, see who is connected and generate reports (access time, device type, number of users, by the user connections and the customer, average per day, hour, month). You can also control the maximum connection time, the amount of MB available for each user, set the connection timeout and notify the connection of the end user.
To provide the service, the operator has adopted an innovative technology developed by Wiman, the technology startup that received investment from TIM Ventures, the Telecom Italia Group, controller of TIM Brazil.
The SDK is a secure and seamless public WiFi sharing solution, which has entered the market as a rival to Hotspots 2.0 technology, yet more cost effective and innovative. This solution uses WiFi routers that are already deployed and integrates with any Android or iOS smartphone app while respecting all rules of the Brazilian Internet Marco Civil.
“The market demand for mobile WiFi connectivity is a reality in Brazil and we are providing a pioneering service for our corporate clients. We invest heavily in the expansion and qualification of our 4G network. We want to provide a broadband experience of high quality automatically to customers” said Rafael Marquez, Marketing Director for the Corporate Market of TIM Brazil.
“All companies know that connectivity is essential to keep happy and engaged customers. With that in mind, we built a smart WiFi sharing technology, which is placed in the market as a simple and innovative solution compared with Hotspots 2.0” says Paolo Di Loreto, Partner of Wiman Brazil.
TIM already has a customer using the solution within the automotive sector. The DETAXI application company in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Today, passengers who have installed the company’s DETAXI application have access to free WiFi in accredited taxis during the duration of their trip through TIM’s 4G network.

Wiman in numbers: 12 incredible months in one infographic.
“12 months have passed since the launch of our Android app and we did the maths for the occasion.”
84 GB.
Our users exchanged 84 GB of data in the last 60 minutes on Wiman.
12 months have passed since the launch of our Android App “Free WiFi — Wiman” and we did the maths for the occasion. We were curious to know what happened in those incredible 12 months.
We dimmed the lights, disabled any kind of notification and pulled out our calculators. A few hours later, we had this:
Our community exchanges around 84 GB of data every hour on Wiman.
2,000 GB each day. 60,000 GB each month. 800,000 GB every year.
800,000 GB of data has been exchanged over the past year.
But that is not what surprised us. We asked ourselves “How much would it have been if that same amount of data was exchanged on 3G/4G networks?”.
With our trusted calculators, we started to do the maths again.
Our users saves around $615 each hour on Wiman.
$15,000 each day. $450,000 each month. $5,400,000 every year.
Our users have saved $5,400,000 overall over the past year on Wiman.
BAM!
These data are incredible, and all of this was made possible only thanks to the huge number of WiFi mapped by our community. 50 Million Free WiFi worldwide.
This is what surprised us!
Over the past months, the growth has been amazing. More and more WiFi have opened. Hundreds, thousands of WiFi available in Mexico, Italy, USA, Brazil, Canada and many other countries around the globe.
As we told you a few weeks ago, it’s times like this we understand how our users evaluate WiFi.
Making WiFi into a service available to everyone and connecting more and more people to each other has always been our mission.
And if we are achieving it — we like to think we are — it’s all thanks to our amazing community.
A community we can call, without any doubt, a proper WiFi Sharing community…

Wiman + Citymapper. A Brand New Wi-Fi Experience.
Picture this.
You’ve just arrived at the hotel.
In a city you don’t know.
You throw yourself on the bed without unpacking.
You want to grab something to eat and you start looking for information about where to find good local restaurants. After a long search, you can’t decide between two restaurants.
Think about it, what is the factor that will make you choose one restaurant over another?
Free Wi-Fi!
Don’t be ashamed to admit it ;)
Small Biz Trend research shows that:
61% of clients look for a place with free Wi-Fi
45% of clients think it’s important to remain online while eating
27% of clients admit they usually come back to a place where there is free Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi has become one of the main priorities of our time.
The previous post, which announced the new Wiman, started with a sentence that has become so important to us, it’s now the basis of our vision:
“WiFi is valued more by the users than by the provider”
So far, Wiman has helped thousands of users worldwide to find Wi-Fi networks and auto-connect to them.
But something was missing. The puzzle was missing a piece.
Now, we’ve found that piece.
From now on, we wish to hold your hand and guide you through the whole Wi-Fi research process.
We are happy to announce the integration with Citymapper for an easier and automatic experience!
In a few words: a complete experience.
Our Wi-Fi vision is very simple and it’s divided into three steps: Search — Reach — Connect. We were only able to help you with two of these three steps until yesterday, but from now on the new Wiman app will allow you to literally reach the Wi-Fi, wherever it is.
Wherever you are. With a tap.
Alright, back to business.
You are still at the hotel, lying in bed. How can Wiman help you?
It’s super simple:
Open Wiman App
Search for free Wi-Fi networks in the area
Sift through the information about places that offer free Wi-Fi
Go to the place you’ve chosen in a few minutes using the integration with Citymapper
Auto-connect to the Wi-Fi
You’re online ;)
Search — Reach — Connect
Everything comes full circle!
What if you’re up for a drink later?
Who knows, maybe there’s a nice pub that offers free Wi-Fi around there…
