#wig storage

Hi,

This is outside of my normal content but as I'm actually also a cosplayer I wanted to ask a quick question.

How do you store your heavily styled wigs (including glued wigs) if you don’t have shelves or the space to keep them upright on stands/heads easily? (I have a little bit of space on top of my closet but it's also very dusty there and I always need a ladder if I wanted to get my wigs)

I’m always worried about ruining the styling especially because I didn't style them myself but commissioned some of them or one of my friends styled them for me.

I’d love to know what hacks or storage solutions you all use because currently I have one of these shoe racks on my door and all of my wigs are just hanging there, which obviously destroys the styling.

Any tips or tricks are super appreciated 💕

I get asked a lot about my wigs so...here's about 17, in bags or tissue paper and stored in labelled shoeboxes/or the box they came in. All the styled ones I try to keep on foam heads as much as possible. ✌🏻

I probably should have acquired a wig head before acquiring a wig.

I'm a total wig noob, about to order a really really nice wig in the next couple of weeks. What's the best way to store a wig when I'm not wearing it? And the best way to pack it up/travel with it? I mean, I'd prolly just wear it to a con, but I'm moving back to college soon and don't wanna damage my wig by accident...

The best way to store a wig is either on a wig head (you can buy one at Sally's Beauty Supply for about $5 or at many different costume stores) or in a ziploc bag. You should always put the wig in a hair net before putting it in the Ziploc bag, to prevent friziness. It's also best to keep long wigs braided to prevent it from tangling.

I travel with my wigs in the Ziploc bag.

Pro tip: You can make a wig stand using a wire hanger. Bend it in half, tuck the hanging part under, and bend the ends out so it can stand. You can round the hanger to be shaped more like a head. I can sketch a quick picture, or take a picture of one I've made, when I get home.
