Fun fact- "Bubbagrundo"- taken from this video- is the term I use for a creature from my mons project that isn't fully finalized. Sometimes, I will use different words- also from the video above, or in the same vein, like "Tokidingo". But let's stick with "Bubbagrundo" as it's the most common.
Like for example-
This is not a Bubbagrundo. This is a Liacoon. I know this by the design. From this image, I can draw up all of the character's stats. No different than any Pokemon, really- you attach the name to an image and the image to a bunch of stats like elemental type (this one is a Shadow element).
These are Bubbagrundos. I have no fucking idea what these are despite creating them myself because there are no images of them. I keep seeing this and going "oh who the fuck- oh, those earth element bug guys. Which earth element bug guys? I am in hell."
I think the difference between a Bubbagrundo and a finished character is usually the lack of image. Even if the thing has basic stats, it can remain a Bubbagrundo if there's no picture to attach the stats to.
This is a very interesting experiment in how mon games in general work. Pikachu, for example, would be a much less charming character if we only had a list of things like Mouse Pokemon, Electric-type, and so on. It's the yellow color, round shape (especially back in the day), and lightning bolt tail that really makes the character memorable. Otherwise, he'd be...well, a Bubbagrundo.
(Incidentally- when this project is done, the last creature designed will actually be named "Bubbagrundo".)
