While Willa had never considered herself to be much of a follower, one look at her with Nikki and you could tell that was exactly what she was. She had no idea what it was about her friend that made her lose all control of her own life, but now that Nikki was back, she was watching it all slip away once again. But could she really complain? Being friends with Nikki came with popularity, cute clothes, fun nights. The kind of high school life that usually only happened on tv. It just so happened that her boyfriend didn’t always fit into the picture. As the bell rang, she walked out of the class with the rest of her friends, books held tight against her chest, laughing as Nikki spoke. Noticing Lucas walking towards her from the other end of the hall, a smile started to curl around her lips, but faltered when she noticed the look Nikki was giving her. Right. Nikki thought she could do better. “Hey,” Willa mumbled as he came close, giving him a half smile and turning her cheek towards him when he tried to lean in for a kiss. “I’ll see you after school?” she suggested immediately, hoping she could side step him without any questions.
