Wild black raspberries, commonly known as blackcaps (Rubus occidentalis), are highly sought after native bramble berries in Pennsylvania. They are abundant throughout the state, typically ripening from mid-June to early July. Blackcaps prefer to grow in full sunlight at forest edges, along abandoned roads, and in unmanaged, bushy thickets.
