Found this the other day and it reminded me that Jones has a dog.

Which got me thinking, we know Hope likes cats but what does she think of dogs? Or what does she think of Bonesy for that matter?

hope may have a preference for cats and liken her aesthetic to them, but she definitely likes dogs still! she respects them, and finds their devotion and loyalty to be admirable. while she certainly knows and believes cats can exhibit just as strongly these traits, dogs do tend to act upon them more readily. she also is not immune to cute and cuddly regardless, although she isn't the sort of girl to absolutely lose it with the need to go and coddle any and every fluffy things she sees.

i do picture hope to favor well-trained dogs, and so she would be on top of training and discipline with a canine should she acquire one. bonesy is luckily a well behaved pup, and his friendly demeanor and love for jonesy would definitely win her over if she meets him! while i don't personally see her as getting a dog, i think it's canon that she still does like them. one of the recent sidekicks - miso the shiba inu - even features hope in its loading screen!

Did you see the new Daigo skin?

i have, indeed! and i'm.... uh. mixed feelings myself. i don't hate that they used his "new" hairstyle to kind of give a feeling of progression with him. i don't hate the idea of him being involved in the story again in some way ( though obviously the exact role of the elites if they even have a role isn't exactly on display yet ) but...

meh? the outfit itself without the helmet is decent. i don't love it entirely, but i do like the mini jacket and a bit of the vibe. what irks me is it... doesn't feel like daigo. like it just so blatantly seems like it was meant for a different character.

daigo's entire aesthetic is just. not this. the cat-like helmet/mask is so outta left field. he has such a cool/darker vibe and like. the opportunities of working with something related to the masks he used to make and the oninoshima fashions... it had such potential. and what we're given is just kind of... black panther knock off-ish lol.

really feels like they just wanted to be like look, popular character is back!

and yay for him being back but. i wish it had more... personality for him. will totally still get it if he lands in the shop one day but also sigh. and then i also... really am not fond of the idea that he has left oninoshima already. hope literally says that the spirit siblings are guarding the island now. he needs to heal from his trauma and really reconnect with kendo and jade. but you're telling me he yeets off to reload land to work with the elites? no. so i'll definitely be reworking some things if he ever gets more of a story outside of just being a reward skin/promotional thing.

if jade and kendo come back, i hope they get more attention to their details lol

You’ve talked about Kendo’s mask and the sentimental value of it but now I’m curious about his turbulent blade. It clearly isn’t that important to him if he replaced it with his bat but it still leaves the question on how he got it and whether or not it was a gift like his mask. Any thoughts?

This is SUCH a good and valid question. I like to think that Kendo dual carries both the bat and his sword!!

It's a lot harder to show this concept since one can't use more than one backblings for obvious clipping reasons. But on my main load out of 'Street Ronin Kendo' , he wears the yellow version of his turbulent blade with Tomoki hitching a ride ( I cannot have Kendo without his little buddy!).

I feel like the sword was not passed on to him, but rather, he commissioned it with hard earned money. It was the FIRST major thing he bought before the purchase of his motorcycle. I have it in my headcanon that he struggled with the typhoon blade despite desperately wanting to learn. But the traditional practices on Oninoshima were strict and mainly for a lithe body type like Daigo and Jade. His more brawny, squared off body is meant for strength. protection. It couldn't master the artistry of fluidly as it felt physically awkward for him, and he got looked down upon by previous masters for that.

i think I even made a post about the blade too. How it looks more modern despite Kendo wanting so deeply to stay within traditions. So this blade is the start of him 'rebelling' from traditions, even if it is small and non-physical change. This was his way to help him prove himself and begin his journey as a rōnin without a master.

This sword will ALWAYS be at his side! It's the weapon he knows best. There will always be that familiarity.

The bat on the other-hand is a new addition. He made it himself by using the materials the OXR provided. It definitely isn't a normal bat, it is coated in a material that can be seen on Kendo's armor and the armor of the other OXR members. Apparently, it's VERY effective in offense and defense against the demon bugs that invaded Oninoshima. And since the demon bugs are from the same spirit world of other demons, this material is effective on all of Oninoshima's demons.

Carrying this as a weapon is another step of being true to himself rather than trying to mimic the warriors of stories. He was always a baseball fan as a kid, and even played the sport when he was far younger. But once he grew older and started to learn the blade, that's when he shifted focus away from baseball and went all in on his goal of becoming a samurai warrior.

Now that he broke free from traditions, he picked up the bat once again and added it to his loadout of weapons. And due to his experience with the turbulent blade and his muscles, it gave him SUCH a strong arm. One does not want to be on the receiving end on this thing unless they want their head to give the warrior a home-run.

ahhh, thank you so much! i'm late responding to your late wish, bUT WHO CARES. honestly having a birthday around a major holiday, time is but a concept lol. it feels like i get birthday wishes for like two weeks because so many people are in and out lol.

but i digress, this made me so 🥺 thank you for being such a wonderful little friend, it means a lot when someone outside of the rpc pays my writing and thoughts mind but is just. respectful and asks questions and little chats! so hugs for you for being so sweet and cool!! 💕

Got super excited tonight cause I found some Hope art I’ve somehow never seen! Though I’m stumped on what it exactly is. Any ideas?

so, the gals and i saw that graffiti! and i'm pretty sure it's just a generic re-use graffiti, not meant to really hype up anything or tease or the like. i think the one you've shown here is at that slurp building by the flower fields? it's definitely able to be found in multiple places. i've looked through skins and never found anything resembling those glasses ( the closest is some of the skeleton-like characters such as oro perhaps. the little "spikes" on the glasses could reference his crown )... then boots and gloves are generic enough.

thus, given the rather simplicity of it and the re-use of it around a few spots ( i'm like 90% certain we found it in at least two or three areas ), yeah, i tend to think it's just a filler art! hope does some for just funsies too and not future-seeing so maybe this is just being sold as one of her chill vibes. they did a lot of re-use graffiti in chapter 5, too.

if it is teasing anything, i have yet to find out or guess what! 👀
