wildlife analysis
With a soft groan, Kai arched his back and stretched out his arms above his head. His shirt rode up, exposing the lower half of his stomach. Goosebumps erupted across the exposed skin as the cold night air brushed across it. It felt so good to move even if it was just a little bit. He had been sitting there for hours. But patience was a virtue and what Kai was going to experience was definitely worth it.
He looked up at the sky, seeing the full moon. There was something magical about the full moon. Some spells that were cast during the full moon harnessed more power. Potions brewed in moonlight tended to have a strong effect. And then there was the effects of the full moon on some magical creatures. It was fascinating. And he was going to experience that, Kai glanced down at his watch, a grin spreading across his face, right now.
There was a soft nuzzling sound. Kai imagined it was moving leaves and nesting material out of the way. Then a soft pitter patter of feet against the cool, hard ground. Kai waited with bated breath and he wasn’t disappointed when it finally emerged out from its burrow. A mooncalf.
He tried to contain his excitement. He didn’t want to scare it away. But this was his first time seeing one and it was...well, it was adorable. He couldn’t help the tiny squeal that slipped past his lips. And the mooncalf noticed him. It turned his head and studied Kai. Probably trying to figure out if he was friend or foe. Don’t panic. Don’t panic. No. There was no need to panic. He reached out a hand slowly and let the creature sniff at his fingers. And then it leaned forward and nuzzled his hand.
Kai melted.
