She was still getting used to her human legs, some days she was exhausted from the new muscles she was using, today being one of those days. She had escaped herself to the library, first to see if it could rival the one she had in Atlantica, and second to rest herself. Before she could make it to the library, however, her legs gave out. She had thought herself alone in the large hallway, alone to wallow in her pain and embarrassment. "Wh-!" Alarm shook her as she was lifted, her body tensing at the new elevation. "Eric! Where did you come from? Please put me down, this is so high!" Being in the ocean she never regarded heights as somethign to be afraid of but here on land where everything could fall, heights were a new thing for her.

“Me?” She figured he’d ask one of his council members, if it involved his kingdom that is, or maybe one of his friends? “Why would you trust my judgment? I can hardly wrangle my sisters.”

It never really mattered how warm the air on dry land could be, since stepping out of the water and back onto dry land always felt cold.

The sensation shocked her the first time it had happened. Even the warm sun didn't help those first few seconds out of the water, and this morning was no exception. Ariel stepped barefoot onto the sand after a brisk swim in the shallows, though she hadn't quite gotten the hang of navigating the water with legs yet--at least not well. But just like swimming with a tail, she could only get better with practice and it was a fine excuse for spending time with Eric.

She wrapped the blanket closer around herself, not only for its warmth but because Eric gave it to her.

"It feels a little better every time I swim," she said, walking with him down the wet stretch of sand where the waves lapped at her feet. "Still cold when we get out, though. Thanks for this."

◤‧₊˚🦀˚₊‧⁺˖ ARIEL◢         ---   ariel is eager for them to get up and explore this latest village they find themselves in during their honeymoon travels; a very old && beautiful place with a rich history. cobblestone streets. buildings so old the paint is chipping away, yet it only gives the town more character really. ariel is woken up by the smell of something delicious wafting up and through the window of the room they’re staying in. in a small inn built above a thing called a tavern apparently.

his request makes her pause, ariel looks at him —- her husband, oh goodness her husband! —- ❝ you want me to stay here with you? of course, i wouldn’t leave without you in the first place. you’re my favorite person to explore with. ❞ she gushes, getting back under the mountain of blankets and finding her place back in his arms. how perfectly && effortlessly they fit together. ❝ i love you eric, so so much. ❞ she reminds him in the comfortable quiet.

he never ceases to amaze her, to bring her such joy and pure happiness that she never believed she could experience before. the former mermaid cannot believe that this her life now; that she travels with this handsome human who just so happens to adore her as much as she does him. there's so much that ariel could say, a whole speech full of loving words but it wouldn't be enough. words alone don't cover her feelings. in fact, the words needed don't exist to, at least to her knowledge. instead, she lifts her hand towards his face, fingers settling on his jaw to push his gaze towards her. his maps are scrawled all over their desk, a sight that takes her back to the first night in the castle. still, she pushes those memories for a moment but has the full intention of revisiting them soon. but her eyes are locked on his, those dreamy blues that pierce her very soul. rather than trying, and likely tripping over her words, ariel leans forward to press her lips to his softly in a gentle kiss. it lasts seconds before she pulls back, returning her attention to everything in front of her. there's a smile, one reserved only for him, before she speaks with a hint of excitement in her voice. ❛ so, are you ready for our next adventure? ❜

[ erik loves arial ] a common mistake has been made, mixing up letters that sound similar. but she can’t help but feel a bit embarrassed, her shoulders slumping a little and her lips forming into a small pout. ❝ forgive me, we’ve spent so much time going over it and i still got mixed up. ❞
