Eugene Bullard:

Despite being American, he already joined the war in 1914, eventually becoming a pilot in 1916. He was one of the only Black pilots at that time, which sadly led to him not being accepted in the American Air Service as the US entered the war, despite his experience. During his lifetime, he received 14 decorations and medals. Still, in his home country he stayed mostly forgotten.

Also, the photos of him in his uniform with the medals he earned are just so awesome.

He was a man of many talents, and aside from his achievements during WWI, he was also a musician, boxer, and celebrated nightclub manager and owner.

Wilhelm Frankl:

He could not only absolutely rock a mustache, he also became a pilot right at the start of WW1, scoring his first victory in 1915, a victory that awarded him the Iron Cross. Eventually, he became the commanding officer of Jasta 1. In 1917 he passed away. Like so many jewish germans who served and died in WW1, his victories and successes became mostly forgotten, being intentionally erased by Nazi Germany.

Alexander Stein è un ebreo tedesco nato il 20 aprile 1889 a Berlino e ha partecipato alla Prima guerra mondiale come soldato. Nel 1933, Alexander fu costretto a lasciare la Germania e ottenne un passaporto dal governo nazista tedesco in cambio dell'adesione all'Accordo di Haavara e di non tornare mai più in Germania.

Nel 1934, Alexander iniziò a unirsi alla milizia Irgun nella Palestina britannica e negli anni successivi si incontrò segretamente con i fascisti italiani per avviare operazioni violente contro le forze britanniche, arrivando a torturare alcune autorità britanniche. Alexander compie crimini come attaccare gli inglesi nella Palestina britannica per avere un futuro Stato ebraico, rimuovere alcuni territori arabi e uccidere alcuni civili arabi che avevano cercato di protestare contro l'Irgun.

Durante la Seconda guerra mondiale, Alexander si schiera contro la Germania nazista a causa del suo sostegno agli arabi in Iraq contro gli ebrei iracheni, ma rimane ostile verso la fine della Seconda guerra mondiale nei confronti degli inglesi e cessa la sua ostilità verso la Gran Bretagna solo quando viene fondato lo Stato di Israele dopo la Seconda guerra mondiale.

Georges Guynemer:

Guynemer was one of the most successful French aces, with 53 victories. Still, despite his success, he was reported to be quite chivalrous, sparing German ace Ernst Udet as his gun jammed. And have you seen Guynemer in his uniform? He just looks so awesome and heroic, really befitting the man he was. 

He was perhaps France’s most beloved ace, and when he failed to return from his final patrol, the whole nation mourned.
