On The Road Again

And now with spooky season behind us, we're back to our regularly scheduled programming...

This week, with travel on my brain and a suitcase full of snacks and storybooks, we're adventuring with The Traveling Musicians by the Brothers Grimm, illustrated by Hans Fischer. Published in New York by Harcourt in 1944, this classic tale, also called Town Musicians of Bremen, features a donkey, dog, cat, and rooster who decide they're tired of being underappreciated and overworked, so they hit the road to become musicians. No plan, no map, just vibes and a dream (relatable, right?)

Jacob (1785–1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786–1859) were German scholars and folklorists who collected and preserved traditional tales in the early 1800s, stories that became the foundation of modern fairy tales. Hans Fischer (1909-1958) was a Swiss painter, graphic artist, and illustrator. His drawings bring the Grimm Brothers' wandering quartet to life with charm, wit, and personality. As we turn the page, it reminds us that adventure often begins when we step off the beaten path.

Charles Entertainment Cheese grew up in St. Marinara orphanage and he loved singing, especially happy birthday. But he didn't know his own birthday (because he is an orphan) so all he could do was celebrate other kids' birthdays. His favourite part was the pizza. He also loved playing Pong and he went to New York City after winning $50 in a Pong tournament.

Snow White (Fairy tale)

I love her. She is so young and nice. She just wants to be kind to everyone. Animals help her do chores. Honestly the only person who doesn't like her is her homicidal vain stepmother (not great company to be in). the hunter doesn't kill her. the dwarfs give her a place to stay. THE ANIMALS LOVE HER. Iconic princess be it disney or any other version. Surprisingly did not put me off of apples as a kid.
