Rubbing Elbows | Will & Cassius
Will's interactions with Cassius Montagu were few and far between. But then, the man famed for single handedly protecting Aragoth from the most dangerous threat it had ever faced, rarely seemed to interact with most people.
So it was with pride that Will would tell his friends how he had once squired for him in a tournament nearly ten years gone. His admiration had increased tenfold watching him defeat every opponent he faced from the sidelines.
Wlil was not afraid of Cassius -- not like his friends. Although perhaps he should have been. He had seen Cassius in his element and this, this was not it. It was clear that he was more comfortable on the battlefield than in a banquet hall.
Even though it had been so long since he had been his squire, Will did not believe that their relationship had come to a close. He thought they could, at the very least, be beneficial to each other.
However, even Will with all of his confidence may not have approved Cassius this evening if he hadn't given the strength that only came after a night drinking the Queen's strongest ale. He was standing by himself, in the darkest corner of the hall. Dressed all in black, one may have not have even noticed that he was there. It was not secret to anyone who bothered to notice that Cassius Montagu was interested in Guinevere Fontaine. But whether the lady returned his interest, was less certain.
"You know," Will began striding up to him, having followed his gaze to the the youngest Fontaine girl, "if you want to ask her to dance with you, you might want to try smiling once in awhile."
