MEET THE FACES OF SS16 | #WILLHEARD
Best known for touring with Rudimental, Will Heard’s breakthrough came in 2013. A No3 single with Klangkarussell on a song titled ‘Sonnentanz (Sun Don’t Shine)’, it was the highest new entry that week, behind Ellie Goulding and Avicii.
He’s also a mutli instrumentalist, and as well as touring with Rudimental as a vocalist, he wrote & performed 5 songs across their No1 album ‘We The Generation’.
We caught up with Will to find out more…
Q:Can you describe yourself in three words?
A:Funky, Positive, Passionate.
Q:Music and fashion go hand-in-hand, is personal style important to you?
A:Definitely! Although I dress more for comfort rather than style. I strongly believe that what you wear can really influence your mood and how you carry yourself. When people are comfortable in what they’re wearing, their energy is usually a lot more positive.
Q:Your collaboration with Cara Delevingne clocked up 7million views in 6 months and you’ve been compared to Amy Winehouse…what’s next?
A:No way! Do they? I love Amy Winehouse. Thank you to whoever made that comparison, I hope I can make her proud one day. I’m currently working on finishing my debut album, I’ve got so much material I want people to hear, it’s just really hard to whittle it down to a few songs that are really telling of who I am & what I’m about. I’m also going to start playing live gigs this year & hopefully a festival or two, or 3. Just putting my band together at the moment.
Q:The French Connection SS16 campaign is a real homage to the 90s. Who is your ultimate 90s icon?
A:My ultimate 90s icon is definitely Dr Dre! ‘The Chronic’ was an album that I blasted everyday.
Q:And what about your 90s soundtrack?
If I could have a 90s soundtrack, it would look like this:
Fugees – Fu-gee-la
OutKast – SpottieOttieDopaliscious
Mos Def – Mathematic
Erykah Badu – Rim Shot
Nirvana – Smell Like Teen Spirit
Nas – Life’s A Bitch
Notorious BIG – Machine Gun Funk
snoop dog – Who Am I, What’s My Name
MJ – Remember The Time
Missy Elliot – Beep Me 911
Prince – Money Don’t Matter Tonight
Big L – Put it on
