Ocote Soul Sounds - Full Performance (Live on KEXP) (by kexpradio)
I've seen most of these guys in their various primary groups (Grupo Fantasma, The Funk Ark) but not together in this configuration yet. Still hoping for some East Coast dates.
Also, Ocote Soul Sounds makes an excellent starting point for a Pandora station.
DC Latin-tinged Afrobeat band The Funk Ark, featuring keyboardist Will Rast, has a new album coming out on ESL Music on April 3. The prerelease teaser track is "Hey Mamajo", which has been getting a great response at the radio stations that are playing it (KEXP, KCRW, maybe more), because it's a great track. My concert calendar is too full to catch them at Montserrat House on March 31, so I hope they play some more local dates in the coming months. Newark, Delaware, would be just perfect, but I'll settle for Wilmington, Philly, or Baltimore, in that order.
