I recently followed you, so just wanted to say hi
Who are your other favourite managers I'm intrigued??
It's a niche market manager appreciation 😂
Hi hi hiii!!! It's nice to get a lovely ask after getting so many pelts because I love this man a bit too much 😅 IKR! I think we need more manager appreciation blogs here.
I have many other favourite managers as well and I'm afraid it'll be too long if I named them all (because if a manager are unhinged and have a degree of craziness in their tactics, then they got me fell head over heels).
So here are my top 5 managers (other than Jesse ofc):
1. Will Still, Stade de Reims. He's real life Nate in Ted Lasso in my mind. Still very young and just got his Pro License as well, but he's able to upset other team and even hold PSG in both home and away matches.
2. Jurgen Klopp. I'm a bit biased here because I'm a Liverpool fan first and foremost (and always will be).
3. Luciano Spalletti. His work at Napoli is nothing but a miracle. An Italy team with such exciting football? Sign me up all day!
4. Arne Slott, Feyenoord. I've been following his team for a while now (2 years) and it only took them Erik Ten Hag away to finally be the powerhouse again. Although, to see his team and Erik's facing each other always a delight that I missed sorely.
5. Gregg Berhalter..KIDDING. Jim Curtin, Philadelphia Union. Jesse's arch nemesis (who happens to be his old mate). The only guy who always win psychological warfare against Jesse. It was so bad that Jesse got a meltdown once and this guy was laughing..it was too funny 🤣 also his team is really pleasing to watch last season. This season they off to a bad start, but I'm sure they'll pick up their form again.
And shout out to Eddie Howe, Bradley Carnell, Thomas Frank, Patrick Vieira, Unai Emery, Jose Mourinho, Arteta, Pep, Ancelotti and Hansi Flick!
Also Bob Bradley~
My coach acknowledged Declan ☝️ ofc I love to see that 🥰
God I love this clip of Still's interview..
Don't hide your weird traits, it's what makes you unique, embrace it and let other deal with it.
Southampton 2025/26 season preview.
So another piece to update what was recently wrote. So as a fan of southampton for over 30 years I find myself literally a few months ago finding myself in that position I found myself with my hometown. So when I was very young I was sort of a coventry city fan but really if Im being honest I did not understand football at that time and it was a more environment thing and family links to the club. Music was my main thing, anyway I digress I got so disillusioned with Coventry in the early 90s there just seem to be no real direction. I wont go into the ins and outs of it but I started following Southampton in 1993. The club last year reminded me of that period and it seemed like it was a club out of control. Fans of Luton have reminded me of that can happen, I dont really want to tempt fate but we have been run very well economically and I don't think we will be that poor in our return to the championship. I dont see relegation to league 1.
What I found when Russell Martin was manager is that there was an exceptionally high number of managers that came and went and sometimes the best way is to stick with the manager no matter what, while the pressures of getting promoted are left for the others. I have to say the appointment of Will Still is exciting for most fans. I think in some ways there is a bit of all our previous managers in him, so maybe a bit of Hassenhuttl working with resources. Maybe a bit of Martin as well in working with a small group of players. But Will Still is more kind of pragmatic and I think most of the players will buy into the clubs vision. Its good to see players returning from loan spells away, hopefully to enable either moves away for the unsettled and sort of more regular starts for players not given a chance under Juric. I have counted that since we appointed Will Still, there has been 8 championship changing their managers late. I am expecting Wrexham, Ipswich, Coventry to be up there. Maybe Play offs is our best way again, but to be fair we need an identity so if we don't get promoted I wont be gutted, as long as the football is joy to watch at times.
The club looking back at last season Martin was good for that season but did not show faith in the players who got him there. Maybe more a spotter of players that had done well at Burnley and Shef Utd. That probably. created a divide. Also Jason Wilcox being recruited by Man Utd was a big mistake. I mean we cant turn the time back, but hopefully the board has learnt from that.
I think the club is more geared to being between the divisions. So a few years ago when we were relegated we made 220 million in players out. We then brought some players and loan players and only spent 70 million. I think the same is going to happen this time as well, so far we have made 29 million in transfers and very little player movement. So relegation does enable you to pocket TV money and sort of encoruages prudent spending. I expect we will make alot of certain players(Dibling especially). Maybe of 4 quarters , 3 quaters will be saved and 1/4 spend on players. I dont mind that FFP
For fans of clubs just going up good luck, but even just one season away it has gone up a notch. In that clubs who skirted with relegation and now massively organised. I do think a club next season will beat our low points tally.
I am really looking forward to this season. We march on
