Happy two month anniversary, Will Appreciation Fest-ers!

(a couple days belated, I think, but still! XD )

Our most recent contribution was almost missed because it didn’t appear in the tag, so I figured our two-month mark was a good time for me to remind everybody that if you are contributing something, the best way to make sure I definitely see it is to send me a message, either at @willappreciationfest or at my main, @panharmonium.  I do check the #willappreciation2020 tag daily, but tumblr can be wonky, and not everything shows up in it.  For example, every post I myself have contributed does not appear in the tag, for whatever reason.  Oh, the irony. XD

So!  Tag your things #willappreciation2020 (and make sure to do so within the first five tags, or else the post won’t show up), but also let me know directly when you’re posting - I don’t want to accidentally miss anybody’s fabulous work! :D

i am SO upset that there isn't more fic about Will●either canon-set AUs where Will didn't die or fics that ACKNOWLEDGE in literally any way Will's death●i genuinely can't recall him being mentioned practically ever in anything i read●despite him being SO IMPORTANT to Merlin as a person●and the circumstances of his death being what they were●i just cannot believe he gets forgotten and glossed over as much as he does (via clotpolesonly)

This...might be the first time I’ve actually been able to rec things, because the only fic I’ve ever read is stuff for the Will Appreciation Fest or stuff for the Merlin/Will fic survey that I did way back when, but that limited background actually is perfectly suited for this XD

So (you may have seen these already, but I’ll never pass up a chance to plug the authors who’ve contributed to the Will Appreciation Fest) - just in case anyone else is looking for Will-centric fic:

1) The @willappreciationfest blog has had a number of fic contributions so far.  The ones that specifically address/reference the impact of his death are here:

2) Additionally - this was written prior to the Will Appreciation Fest, but @merlinobsessionist wrote a one-shot based on the exact post you added these tags to, where Hunith is more sensitive to what’s going on in 1.10, and the episode ends on a slightly different note.  The link seems to be broken for me right now, but I’m including it here anyway so @merlinobsessionist can see this and maybe people will be able to access it once it goes back up!

3) I wouldn’t link my own work normally, but as this is the one area of fandom where I have actually contributed a significant amount of material, I'll just say that I do write a lot of Will-centric stuff myself:

everything that dies: (modern reincarnation fic where will comes back after everyone else)

for want of a woodwright (perpetual WIP where will doesn’t die in 1.10 and comes back to camelot with merlin.  it’s hosted on tumblr in a number of separate posts, so the link just goes to my general tag for that AU.)

wheel of the year (basically a big pre-canon love letter to will+merlin’s friendship, spanning their last year in ealdor)

Finding Will-focused material on tumblr, in particular, can be hard, because there’s no set convention for how to tag him.  If it wasn’t submitted to the Will Appreciation Fest, I probably haven’t seen it, so if anyone else has things to add to this list, feel free to add your stuff onto this post!  Plug your own work!  Rec somebody else!  Tag something #willappreciation2020 and submit it to the festival!  We’re always happy to see more Will-centric things! :D
