I would like to take a moment to appreciate Mary Jane's wedding dress. I'm honestly not that into clothing, but I think it looks incredible.

It was actually designed by fashion designer Willi Smith and was one of the last outfits he worked on before he tragically passed away at age 39, from pneumonia caused by AIDS.

I wish I could say more about him since I see how important he is to the fashion world, but I'm not too familiar with it, so I don't think I could do him justice. But I would like to note that he does actually appear in the book and is actually in attendance at the wedding.

Ok so strap in because this one simple page actually sent me down a rabbit hole of stuff I had missed. I'll go over it in bits and pieces.

The first bit and I won't go too into, is the mention of Jim Wilson, who we are keeping in the consciousness for... reasons.

Next up we have some incredibly progressive talk from Betty about AIDS and AIDS research and how performative people are about it, putting on a pretty ribbon for it and calling it a day.

The Last one, that I'm going to go more into, is about Willi Smith and MJ's wedding dress. So I was so focused on the actual wedding that I never noticed that Willi Smith was an actual fashion designer at the time, and that Marvel had actually had him design not just MJ's comic dress, but also a real life version as well, and Willi actually had a few appearances in the book as well.

Also, the dress for MJ would actually wind up being one of the last pieces Willi Smith would ever design, because he wound up dying from AIDS-related complications, just 2 months before the wedding.
