Ever since Lea had started to date Matthias, new possibilities seemed to be opening up around her. She was starting to see past the grief and revenge she had been living in for so long, and while making chocolate had seemed to keep the royals and village happy, Lea had wanted something more meaningful for her life. Some way to help, after living a life for Tobias, who she was beginning to accept was gone. It’s why the idea of helping, instead of hurting, had come to mind, and she knew the perfect person to teach her...well, if he’d agree to it. She had already had some medical training, she had studied in the past, but now she wanted to expand on that knowledge.

Hoping he would be able to meet her, Lea sat perched at the bar in Luna’s small establishment just up the street. It had become her favorite spot to go after work and a way she could support someone she enjoyed talking to and being around. Glass in her grip, she let her eyes scan the room to make sure she hadn’t missed William coming in while her back was turned.

It wasn’t that she preferred going to see a doctor. It’s that check-ups were required and personally requested by her father after the kidnapping attempt. The therapy sessions had started prior to ever coming to Khatanga, and Kamilė had become a pro at putting up a front. She knew what to say and when to say it, but with this new doctor, she would have to study him and pick up on his ways. Today, though, she had decided to play it safe. Give him what he wanted to hear and help feed in the sympathy most of the royals who were taken had gotten.

With a firm hard knock on the door, Kamilė waited for permission to enter. She had the crocodile tears on the back burner just in case they would be needed for the session, but she was going to give it time and see how things went. Tell him what he wants to hear. Doctors love that bullshit. It makes them feel validated.

Taking a deep breath, she let a forced smile wash over her features, readying herself for what was to come.

“Isn’t it funny how a tiny piece of greenery can make people go mad with affection?” She turned her attention to the doctor standing next to her. Birdie hadn’t intentionally stopped under the sprig of mistletoe hanging above the pair, but as soon as she did, she realized she owed the man, who also stood underneath the tiny plant, a kiss, “I don’t think it to be quite appropriate for our lips to meet, but perhaps a kiss on the cheek will do? At least as thanks for helping me face my latest bout of vertigo.”
