Exciting, challenging but rewarding to paint the famous St Patrick's Church on Donegall St in Belfast for the #TwelfthJuly 2018. Saint Patrick's church has been the scene of several controversial events in recent years, from loyalist bands playing offensive songs to a visit from Prince Charles. One of the biggest controversies was a painting of the church by the late Joe McWilliams. The painting had Orangemen and loyalist bandsmen marching in front of the chapel, with some claiming that the artist had drawn the Orangemen as Klu-Klux-Klan members. This made the location an irristible subject for me to paint. #art #artist #irishart #belfast #twelfth #IrishArtist #orange #orangeorder #loyalist #loyalism #summer #JoeMcWilliams #SirJohnLavery #JohnLavery #WilliamConor (at St. Patrick's Parish, Belfast)
