Breaking through the rut is what constitutes willpower. We become so routined with our current lifestyles that when we try to change it it seems like a burden. You say to yourself, “to hell with it, why bother putting myself through this”?
If I stop working out with weights (which I have many times) and try to get back in to it. I’m usually just going through the motions for a few weeks. My mind is not even there, but i just do it anyway.
After about a month I really start to enjoy it, and it becomes second nature to me. You routine yourself back in to it, and it’s no different with anybody else.
I had a friend who started training with me a couple of years ago, and he had the, “what’s the point attitude” for the first couple of weeks. I promised him if he still felt that way after 3 months I would give him a 100 bucks.
He still trains with weights now today. It really doesn’t matter what you apply the 3 month rule to. You can routine yourself to do just about anything.
