Secret gifts

Pepper had been down lately and Tony could see that , as much of an asshole he could be sometimes , he always knew when pepper wasn't being herself. For the last couple of weeks he'd been sending her little gifts at work and home without leaving any trace they were from him. He tried asking what was wrong with her and it only seemed to piss her off more. So he resulted into sending anonymous gifts everyday. Today he had sent a dozen red roses to her house for her to see when she arrived home later , he knew he should probably tell her at some point but it was begining to be fun. Seeing her smile was worth it , tony of course still couldn't admit to himself he was deeply in love with the red head because let's be honest he was scared of rejection.

“But hun, you’re pregnant! Extra meat for any basement monsters!” Jen exclaimed as she pranced around the top of the stairs to the basement, perparing herself to get hot onto Pepper’s tail as she ventured into the deep unknown.

“I would never intentionally give you a bad surprise.” She assured, “So no anxiety needed okay? I will always take good care of you.”

Pepper grinned when he opened the door for her, “Thank you, honey.” She told him as she climbed in.

Once they had pulled out in to the road she reached over to squeeze his knee, “Im stealing you for the weekend. A private relaxation retreat. Happy six month anniversary.”

Bruce gave her a nod and shut the door behind her before getting in on the passengers side. When she reached over and touched his knee, he looked over at her and smiled softly, allowing himself to sink comfortably in the passengers seat.

“Thank you, Pepper.” He said softly, hand slipping over hers for a moment and giving it a squeeze. “If I knew I would have brought my gift for you with me. I’ll have to give it to you when we get back.”

Zoe struggles against her restraints but apparently Stark Industries had made them for people like her. She looks around the room again but there was no way out. She was tired of the people they sent in and she knows she’s dirty from being on the run for years but she just wants to get out of here and get away.

She looks up when two people come in, a man and woman, and she hisses at the man, backing as far as she can from him in an act of self preservation, and she glares at him, “who the hell are you,” she growls.

Pepper huffed loudly and held her hands up in surrender as she backed away from the other woman, “By all means suffer all on your own. God forbid I try to help you.” The CEO snarked in her own annoyance.

She should have known better. This was just who Natasha was as a person. Unfortunately helping and worrying was who Pepper was as a person. It was a clash of personalities.

“Why don’t you text me when you’re ready to allow my presence again? I’m going to take a shower.” She informed her before stalking off. She was hyper aware of Natasha’s blood on her shirt from when she had been trying to help stitch up the wound.

Nat huffed right back and tried patching up the wound on her shoulder blade by herself. She wasn’t used being treated like that and she didn’t need help. She’s had worse injuries at even worse places and knew how to treat them.

Ignoring the pain as always, she went back to her usual training for the day. It’s not like little injuries ever stopped her from anything. But at some point -a few hours later- she felt her wound opening up again. “Shit...” And after failing for an embarrassing amount of time to stop the bleeding, she eventually decided to text Pepper.

She couldn’t stop shaking. The kind man was sadly having to do everything. He got her into the bath. He seemed okay with washing her off which was good. Being covered with blood was really disconcerting.

She glanced down at her trembling hands. Tears filled her eyes again as she looked up at the stranger, “Do you… know who I am?” She hoped he did because she sure as hell didn’t.

Gabriel paused briefly. Was she concerned about what she had done to end up in this state? He could certainly understand not wanting anyone to know, she was a public figure after all.

“I won’t tell anyone,” he promised softly. He didn’t know much to tell, just that this was the condition he found her in.

“So I’m going to tell you something and I need you to try to not panic, okay?” Never a good sign when it came to Natasha. Try not to panic always meant something awful, especially when she was coming back days late from a mission and had the uncanny ability to seem fine, even in the worst of times. “I may have gotten a little shot while I was on my op. but everything’s fine now so it’s not a big deal.”
